Is the push to start disabled if the key isn't in range for phase 2?

Or does the button just always work to start the car?

i believe there is a switch that needs to be installed in the vehicle before the button becomes hot.

    also...what is the "standard" button?

and any 4x4 guys figured out where to put a button?

so someone smashes your window out, flips a switch, push button starts your car and drives off that easy?

    Nope; Goes more like this:

You: Hey man! Look at my push start system! I dont even need a key! Its sooo cool, dont you wish you had one!
    Him: Sure do.....*waits*

    THEN
someone smashes your window out, flips a switch, push button starts your car and drives off that easy.

If someone wants your truck, they will get it. Period. Most people will have no CLUE that this is installed....unless you tell them, and even then, they still have to figure it out.

What I am saying, security begins with you. Just dont tell people your secrets. Its always good to show it off, but most of the time I just tell them that it senses my existing keyfob. That way, any would be vandals, or your friends, would be deterred.

In my search to find this information and learning how the truck works, its scary how easy I can bypass all the "anti-theft" stuff.

yea i get the whole push button idea, and thats cool you have something going, but the fact that its super easy to start. and more than likely the reason you would buy it, is to show it off. just sayin.

Appreciate your concern, but everyone is different; If you dont like it, agree with how its done, or dont like the perceived risks; Dont buy it ;)

Too much for TW to know
Or you can buy the stage 1 kit and have it set up so you need your key and then hit the button. :)

And your point? Yeah it's fun to see people's reaction to a push button. But when you get used to keeping the keys in your pocket it is very handy. It may not be for everyone, but it is very useful. Kody, great job on the setup.

i think it's also a pretty awesome way to not be stranded as well, cause one time in key west, i dropped my keys in the shallow water, and we had to look for it, if we didn't find it, someone would have had to drive down with a spare, if u had this, u can always get roadside to open ur car up, and off u go, or have a spare in the car

This is sweet, and if the TRD button wasn't so much extra I'd jump on it. Crazy they ask that much for it!!!

    Too many to list now.

I was thinking, since I dont use this space for anything, you could take it out and cut the whole front of it off but leave the back that seats up against the dash and put it centered right in there, it'd be really hard to see and still very easy to get to. Sort of a natural ignition spot as well. When Phase 3 comes out, this is what I will do. :)

Its just one litte spring that needs to be removed. It's amazing how one litte simple piece of wire will not all your steering wheel to move

hey moneyblind, what happens if you are driving your car like normal with the key, and you push the first button that turns the acc on? does it send double power and possibly short, or does nothing happen?

also, what happens in the same scenario and you push the push start button?
