If you're on the stock battery, replace it. That most definitely sounds like a battery issue, especially since it started after you connected a jumper to it. Battery probably didn't have enough cold cranking amps.

If it continues with a new battery, have the alternator checked out.

It happened to me three times last winter on my 2020, using the fob to start remotely (I don't have the app anymore). Each time it kept running after I opened the door, and then once stopped wouldn't go past accessory mode (does not engage starter). Each time I had to pop the hood and unhook the battery for 5 mins, then everything worked fine. But a huge pain in the butt. The battery doesn't seem like the problem as it has been at least 6 months since I last had the problem and the truck still starts and runs strong through multiple seasons in the northeast...as long as I don't use remote start.

But I do agree that the need for a jumper is different from my experience and might point to a related battery issue.

If you unhook the negative terminal and then press the brake pedal a few times, you probably wouldn't have to wait 5 minutes.

But I would bet your issue was still the battery, as you said it was winter and it looks like you're in Boston where it gets pretty cold. That will drain your battery, especially if it was already a couple years old and you had left a dome light on or something.

It seems with all of these connected services (apps, remote start, etc...) with newer vehicles, the factory batteries only seem to last a few years because they're constantly being used while the vehicle isn't running.

has anyone tried disconnecting the battery, putting the cables together and doing a "soft reset" ???
