It was originally a Ruger 10-22. I appreciate the info on the Remington ammo, unfortunately I bought a brick of that stuff when I saw it on saalw a while back. I haven't fired any, guess I'll co tact Remington and see about getting replacement or refund .

That's very cool, I've got one very similar, seems I've posted it on here before. I've shot a ton of the Remington stuff (made by Eley), with no problems. I've shot Hornady, CCI, Federal, Remington and Eley with very few problems. I see you have the heavy bolt handle, you "may" need a magnum spring, or HD hammer strut spring, cause there are some timing issues. So keep a eye on your cases, spent of course, looking for splits on the rims, and ALWAYS wear shooting glasses. Seems most problems come from a dirty gun, they do foul very fast. I clean at 100 rds or so, using a Otis or a Boresnake, from breech to bore as not to pull crap back into the chamber. Rimfirecentral.com has all the information you could ever hope for.

I have a ton of $$$$$ in it, over $1,000 total. But it can cut quarters at 100 yds all day long. It actually groups better as the barrel warms up!!!!

Which VQ barrel did you go with, the carbon tenstioned or steal, kinda hard to tell from the pic. My groups start to open up the hotter it gets, but it is a sporter profile. The .17 is the third one down.
