Put into 4 wheel drive at 60 MPH

    Well this happened to me last week. Doing about 60 MPH. My right knee contacts the 4 weel drive button and the truck tries to go into 4 wheel. It made a terrible noise but didn't engage. Don't want that to happen again. Here's what I did to prevent it. Went to Home Depot and bought a 10 ft piece of 2 inch electrical conduit.($5) Cut 5 inches of the flared end and put it over the lever. Fits like a glove.

    I've hit 60 MPH in 4x4 on the highway with NO issues or bad noises....didn't go above 60 though

    Not the point. I think he meant he was going 60 mph in 2wd then pushed the 4wd button by accident.

    yes there is a shifter, but on some late model 1st gens it was electronic 4WD hi (button on left side of shifter) and then the rest of the t-case was selected by moving the shifter.

    Yes! sorry this should be in 1st Gen. On the left side of the lever is 4x4 button which I engauged.

    Can a mod move this to 1st gen?
