I see the wiring diagram above, but how did you wire for power and ground in this? I, too, am a mutant at 6-1 with a 30 inch inseam

I connected the ground wire to the metal pan under the carpet near the seat and I connected the power to the fuse block under the dash by the drivers left foot. I used an inline 30 amp fuse for the seat.

Can anyone confirm this works for a 2nd gen Tacoma? Apart from obviously needing to run power/ground, are all the airbag sensors in both the driver and passenger seat plug and play? I know people have swapped 3rd gen seats into a 2nd gen but haven’t read of anyone doing a powered. Seems like it should work.

If people have successfully put 3rd gen seats into 2nd gen, then powered would be no different. I just did this the other day based off of what captqc said. There's no connection difference between 3rd gen powered and non.

Would you mind explaining to me in detail where exactly this circuit is? I have a fuse tap and wiring just unsure of the best place to grab power from. Don’t have experience tapping into existing circuits, I’ve only ever added new wires from the battery.

Could I potentially just simply tap the grey wire from this trailer brake harness? From my research it seems like it’s connected to a 30A already.

    Thanks in advance.

The connector you are pointing at is IR1, if you had the complete towing feature it would have a 30A fuse input.
Your Taco is missing that feature/input. (Everything inside the red block)

Got it. Do you happen to know what these unused wires are on my driver seat harness? I have a 2015. Could this be unused 12V power? Or are these just ground wires? Thanks for the help here

Here’s a photo of behind that harness, there was actually a curt trailer brake controller hooked up to it that I disconnected. Can I use the gray for 30a power? And white black for ground?

If you're not using the trailer brake controller, the blue wire on there is constant 30A fuse source.

Amazing, I’m going to just tap that blue trailer brake controller line for power and tap into one of the ground wires that’s attached to the existing seat harness then. Thanks so much

I actually have one more question for you, the abs wire harnesses from my 2nd gen aren’t the same as the 3rd gen. There’s the same wiring yellow and yellow/black on each however. I’m assuming it’s safe to just cut the existing wire harnesses off of my vehicle and solder on the new harnesses matching the same wires up? Just want to be 100% sure this will work as I’m scared of messing with the airbags.

I don't mess with the air bags and their components.

Reviving and old thread in hopes of some clarity.
I see the wiring and know where on the seat to connect the power..but, on the truck where do I pull the 30amp from? I found the circuit box under driver side...is that where I need to tap in? 20250517_122503.jpg 20250517_122510.jpg

I made a post on my successful install here though didn’t go into detail on the power https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ther-seats-in-a-2nd-gen.853594/#post-30477546.

For my power since I have an access cab with no rear power windows I just tapped rear power window fuse with a fuse tap in the cabin fuse box.

This is the part i didn't understand. This box looks like the one in the engine bay...is that correct? I know these diagrams explain more than I can see..I am just not familiar enough to decipher it. Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it

It's not. It's the cab fuse box. Bottom is cover to fuses.
