Does anyone have any advice on how to put decals on? I might just be a complete idiot, but whenever I try to peel off the backing part of the decal sticks to the backing and part sticks the the clear film. I assume you want everything on the clear film and then press it onto the truck and peel of the film. I was thinking a blow dryer maybe to loosen up the decal?

They should stick to the clear film, if they stick to the backing paper just put the backing paper back on the transfer film, and press the decal firmly with your finger so it sticks to the transfer film better. Then peel slow, at an angle, off the backing paper.

I used to work at a sign shop, here's a quick trick if it's getting stuck to the backing paper instead of the transfer tape... place the decal on a flat surface, transfer tape side face down, and use a squeegee or a credit card etc to smooth out the backing paper and stick it on the transfer tape more.

Also keep it face down when you're trying to peel it off, it's easier to remove the backing paper this way.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just going to pay someone to do it. I assume I can go to any dealership and have them do it. Was able to get it off but went to stick it on my truck and the wind blew and part stuck to the truck all crooked and messed everything up. Things that require finesse are not my strong suit.

I put blue painters tape just below where I want to put the decal to give me a straight line to align the decal.

Yea I had that all set up, but the wind blew and part of the decal stuck on the truck. Like I said finesse is not my strong suit haha. If it requires brute strength I'm good at that.

Unless it says "FEAR THIS," then I'd just leave it off. :D

I'm sure I can do it, but by the time I spend the money on several more decals it would be cheaper to just have someone who does this all the time do it. I'm just putting on the 4x4 off road part of the decal. I am kind of torn on whether to keep it completely debadged and dedecaled (sp?) but I want to see what it would look like with just the 4x4 off road on it.

Another trick it to align your decal before you remove the tape. Use masking tape along the top as a hinge, flip it up and remove the backing paper, hold the decal off the truck and apply slowly from the hinge at the top.

i spray down the area with some soapy water before i put decals on. this allows you to position it where you want it, then squeegee out the water. let it dry over night and wallah!
