Hey Tacoma world! So I am saving up some money to level out the truck and put new wheels and tires on it. Ive been doing a lot of research and see if you guys are running any of the mods im interested in. So I want level out the truck with bilstein 5100's for the front shocks only. I saw the Bilstein does to recommend putting the ring on the highest setting..why is that? I see that the OME 887's with the Bilstein shocks are the popular choice. If you guys have any pictures for your trucks, do you guys mind posting it? id like to see what it looks like.

I also want to put on the method NV wheels 16x8 4.5/0. During my research, 4 wheel parts is saying the it will be rubbing the calipers. is this really true? id also like to see some pictures of the wheels if you guys have it on the wheels. thank you guys in advance.

Hey man, welcome. If you want to level out the truck I’d personally recommend getting the OME springs for an extra $160 or so and setting the 5100s at zero. If you reuse your stock springs to get 2.5 it will ride very very stiff. That alone makes the extra cost of the springs worth it. Check out @HeadStrong Off-Road, Marie will hook you up with anything and everything you need. Also, I recommend while you’re tearing it apart, you do some research on the ECGS bushing to replace the stock needle bearing in the front diff. It will prevent vibrations from lifting the front. Good Luck!

not necessarily, but it is a known fix for a vibration caused by the stock needle bearing failing due to a lift. The diagnosis is if you have some vibrations and they go away if you turn on 4x4 then that’s the fix. For $60 I added it to mine when I lifted it and haven’t had a problem. I’m sure there’s plenty of people that lift and don’t do this, and don’t have vibes, I’m just the kind of guy who once I tear everything apart, I don’t want to have to do it again...

Not necessarily. YMMV. Mine didn’t, but I ended up changing the bushing when I changed my gears.

Have you looked into a complete setup from OME yet? Good bang for your buck and you have the option to include Dakar leafs from the get go.

If you really want to level out a 3rd gen tacoma, you wont need to go 2.5". You can get the Bilstein 5100s and set them on the 2nd notch (.65) or 3rd notch (1.1) and it will level the truck. Our newer tacomas only have a small amount of rake. Some have used the Bilstein shocks designed for the 2nd gen tacomas and set them at .85 which levels it aswell.
Also i def recommend the diff bushing as stated above. Your truck may not need it, but its cheap insurance and piece if mind.
As far as Method wheels go, i have no answer. I have seen lots of people running that wheel, but havent heard of clearance issues.
