Alright this is my first post on this forum I have heard this is a great forum for help...I need some advice please!! So I have a stock 2014 Tacoma sr5 which currently has the factory P245/75/R16 tires on it. Im wanting to move up to a 17". Im looking into putting a 2" leveling kit on the front end. Would Nitto Terra Grappler g2 265/70/17 tire fit or could I even go up to a 285/70/17 with no rubbing? My other question is what would my rim width need to be? From the research I have done its looking like the width would need to be 8". Is that true?

I wouldnt run 285s on 2 inches. Youll need a cab mount chop regardless what lift with 33s. 265/70 should be fine. At minimum 8 inch rim with 4.75 back space, if you want to go 285s go with 4.5 inch backspace or less.

The TRD Sport rims are 17". I run P265/65/17 that fill the space nicely. I believe they are 8" wide.

First, a 265/70/17 would be fine on the stock wheels. If you're going aftermarket you'll have to factor in off set and back spacing. Search the tires/wheels section.

Second, please change your thread title to "need advice" and remove "Help". There are many members here who will drop everything to come to the aid of a stuck or broken down member, sometimes driving hours to do so. "Help" in a thread title is reserved for those who are truly having an emergency.

    Third, welcome.

    Working on it now....UNDER CONSTRUCTION
I have 33 and no cab mount chop, however, I also have a 4" spindle lift. I would research extensively before you do anything. It will take quite a while to get everything figured out.

On the tire specs it is showing the Rim range is 7-9" then it has the measured rim is 8". So does that mean I can go higher than 8"?

I ran 265s on a 9 inch rim and it was a bit silly looking, moved to 275s

    265/70-17 fits with no lift.

I keep considering a small leveling lift on the front for looks, but have not pulled the trigger since it's not needed.

Looks good but sure is looking like a tight fit with no lift.

Mine does not have the TRD package I have the SR5. The TRDs sit up a little higher don't they?

Plenty of room. Have had no issues rubbing, and I have done nothing to make extra room.

I must have missed that. Not sure to be honest. It doesnt look taller in parking lots but not sure.

With the 2.7 might consider the 235/85/16 route. This reduces rolling resistance, keeps the tire lighter for the diameter but give you a taller tire. Certainly no rubbing issues at all and wont hurt the performance as much as a heavier tire. I have the skinnies in my avatar photo and you can also see my signature link for budget spacer lift ideas.
