Q?: When I open a thread, Why doesn't it default to show newest posts?

    When opening a thread, it would make the most sense if the default was to show the newest
    (or latest) posts... as other forums do.
    or is that a preference option that I have yet to discover??

    Because you need to read the previous 5,000 pages or you might ask a question that was already answered at some point 5 years ago on god knows what page!
