QI Pad Lifting/Bubbling Up

Im deathly afraid of my Qi charger. It ruined my LG that was working fine prior to using it a few times

 

I fix mine by open it up using 3M tape

 

I think it's primarily because they didn't adhere the rubber mat very well to begin with. I'm surprised they haven't come out with a TSB just addressing this issue instead of replacing the whole until under warranty.

We just purchased a 2020 Rav4 Hybrid Limited and the QI pad is different. The power switch is actually on the pad not a switch in the dash area.

 

When I open up the hold device it dose not have any glue between the rubber and the device.

 

So how was it held in place?

 

I use 3m double side tape to hold it.

It is nothing between it and the heat make the rubber bubbling up

 

So you're saying nothing is holding the rubber piece in place? I tried to get my fingernail in there and lift it up and it didn't budge.

 

Which fuse should I pull on a 2019 Sport to ensure the Qi charging pad is non-operational?

 

If you take it apart, there is about total of 10 tiny screws and you can separate the charger and the rubber part and you will be surprise is nothing between! My theory is the charger heat up during the charge and the rubber pad cannot handle it and cause the bubbling up! I just don’t believe why dealership charge $750 for this stupid part!

 

I agree $750 is outrageous. However, I don't believe it has to do with charging since I've never turned mine on. Heat possible because I live in Northern California and gets extremely hot from May thru September. Looks like a trip to the dealer is in order.

 

I just noticed mine bubbling up. I’ve never used it. I’ll be taking it in for a 5k service soon and bring it to their attention. All I rest on there is a pair of sunglasses....

 

Mine was covered under warranty. I never used it but I did have a mat over it. I think It bubbled up due to extreme heat in the cab. Windows closed, truck in the sun, 100 degrees, etc.

 

So, I had same issue......i took apart the center console, unscrew the wireless charger and apply a thin layer of cement glue to underneath pad n the wireless charger.....i then put weight on top until it dry.....no more bubbles (flat as a pancake), an it still function

 

I still can't believe no one has figured out how to wire in a better charger in its place yet to look OEM.

 

I stopped using mine - after about 6 months - it would make my phone (iPhone X) so hot it shut off. I just use the USB to charge my phone. I wish it worked, would be a nice feature.

 

STUPID BUBBLE!!

 

Mine is lifting up too. Took mine in today for the 25k miles service. Since I have the aftermarket seat heaters and the MESO Stealth Knob... I didn't want them messing with the center console. I asked if they could just give me the replacement part and I would sign away any future claims towards it then install it myself, but they stated for them to get paid by Toyota... they need to install the part themselves. I might have to put a bunch of stuff back to OEM before I let them replace the QI Pad. Or I may not even make the claim since I only use that cubby for storage.
