    Hey, Folks.

I just found a new TSB (attached) for Tacos with a deformed Qi charging pad.

Unfortunately, it is only in the bumper to bumper warranty period even though all 3rd Gens are included.

    Good luck!

    Have a good one,

    tony

I bet there are a lot of 16-18 guys over the mileage limit that will be pissed when they see this....such a common issue Toyota should take care of...

Has the part number been updated or is a let's kick the can down the road TSB with the same crappy part?

I think a better idea would be to remove it and just install the trim out of an SR. The Qi stuff is just a gimmick.

Guaranteed. Kind of an odd route, but they seem to do this often.

Good find. The part is less than I figured it would be and the TSB has the instructions. Not sure if I'd replace it since I've never used it.

    Wow.

Unfortunately, that is the way. Had a defective HU on a new car years ago. They replaced it with a refurb. I didn't find this until I pulled it for an aux in mod many years later.

Will they replace mine for free? I’ve got a decent little bubble that popped up a few months ago. Figured I’d bring it to the service departments attention when I take it in for my first 5k service appointment. Might as well drop it off tomorrow so they can also take a look at the front passenger door. It needs to be semi slammed in order for it to close.

If it is within the warranty period shown in the TSB, they should not give you any grief.

2021 and 2,906 miles. Does Toyota still include the 3/36k warranty?

Yes, but TSB have a warranty section that I was referencing. Take a look.

Just dropped off my truck. Service manager was already aware of the TSB and said they might even have the part in stock. They’re having a master tech look at it first.

Same issue on my 2020 though im going to leave it that way rather than let the dealer rip apart the dash and introduce new squeaks and noises

I had issues (not charging correctly) with my 17 TRDOR and Toyota would not do anything with the Qi Pad...Always blamed the phone!

'20 guy at 45k so I'm not far off! :D

Also yeah - 45$ for the part is actually a lot lower than I expected. I use the cubby all the time, charging more now that I have a phone that can do it. I have a wireless car play adapter so wireless + wireless just chuck the phone in the cubby and it charges while I use it. That wireless car play saps the battery, so it's good if I'm on a longer drive. Keeps it charged and wireless sat nav/music - I'll take it :notsure:

But I am also in the process of probably and likely using that cubby or the double cup holder in front of it for a radio and/or switch plate mounting setup. Dead space not used enough, slap the radio and switch plates in there, yee haw!

I will not take mine to Toyota for this, I disconnect the Qi switch this passed weekend, wanted the switch spot for my anytime back up camera switch and I use that place for other stuff.
