I've got plenty to keep me occupied until then. Finally got my 3 axis gimbal for my DSLR the other day. Here is some test footage taken in front of the house yesterday testing out the movement of the gimbal. 400 - 24 megapixel RAW still images taken over 20 mins = 28 secs. of 8K film downgraded to 4K for youtube. These are ungraded / non color corrected stills and just what the camera saw. I just wanted to test out the motion of the camera.

I agree, I think I am going to go with the mavic. I prefer portability over cinema quality. Afterall I only make amateur video. It would be nice to get the higher quality but I'd like to be able to pack the drone easily and carry it with me where I go. Traveling, camping, hiking for example.

I agree. And honestly there won't be "too" much difference (at least noticeable) for most people. I enjoyed the Inspire and it is a great craft no doubt. But I much prefer the portability and convenience of being able to put it up at a moment's notice rather than planning your day around your shot.

I took a look at those online. They look good and likely push the industry some. But they seem proprietary as far as parts. I think I'll have a go at the carbon framed 'racer' style and go from there though. It's going to be a money pit any route I take.

I have a replacement board that uses my FRsky gear, four replacement motors, and a carbon fiber chassis... not a single 'original' part in that one.

I'm working 12 hour shifts lately and don't have much research time. I went ahead and ordered two. One similar to the Inductrix and the other a CF 'racer'. Spare motors and props, too.

Right. My Tx is dsm2. The little one will have to use it's own controller.

The little one? The largest of the two is barely four inches.

Damn. I'm usually good with numbers and metric-SAE. I dropped the ball on that one. In my head was thinking 10" not 10cm. It'll be useless in any sort of breeze outside.

Mavic has been pushed back to at least Jan 15. I would expect further delays.

Yeah, but especially in the winter, you can get a lot more indoor practice in with the micro sized units.

Well, it's shipped already. I'll see how it goes. I can always repurpose parts elsewhere.

Mavic is pushed back to mid Jan to mid Feb. You'll be lucky to get one earlier than that.

Amazon just got pushed back from Jan 9th to the 15th. Originally Amazon was mid Dec. I expect it to be pushed back even further since the people that have already paid on DJI's site "still" haven't received their product. And they ordered it at launch. Don't get me wrong... I'm not trying to be pessimistic but almost everyday I check Amazon, B&H, etc... and they are all back ordered and the date keeps getting pushed back further. DJI says 6 to 8 weeks but it's been longer than that for those that have paid and they still don't have their product? I hope you are able to get one sooner but I'm not holding my breath. I want one also but "luckily" I'm not in a big hurry.

I checked yesterday and it was still the 9th. Guess my account didn't update lol. Looked this morning and it's now the 15th. I really want one but I don't want to shell out $1500 (with accessories) only to have to wait for over a month (or longer) before I get my craft. Supply will eventually catch up with demand. Once they release the Inspire 2 and Phantom Pro then we should be able to get our hand on the Mavic since the demand will shift to the new crafts.

For the lucky ones that have one it looks to be a perfect craft for what "I" want to do with it. The "tripod" mode really peaks my interest.
