USB C is the shit. Just transferred 175 GB from my external SSD to my new external HDD. Took 18 minutes.

Gotta keep them batteries warm. I got a cold battery warning last time I went camping and it was only down to the 30s at night.

God damn fucking drone. Rode passenger to film all day. Piece of shit wouldn't stay connected to video for more than 10 seconds. So irritating.

How's the MBP treating you? Pros/cons? Likes/dislikes? I'm about to upgrade my 15" mid 2011 MBP aka The Brick.

Haven't gotten to really use it much as I haven't gotten any new footage. Went to shoot Sunday but as stated above I was having issues all day and hardly got any.

I've played around a little bit with some old clips and stock footage though on Final Cut Pro and I really like it. The display is really nice, it's lightweight for being a 15" and the speed of everything is great.

I don't remember if you had an older MBP or not to compare it to? I spoke to a friend of mine that had an older one like I do and his complaints on the new one were the battery life (compared to the old one (I guess you gotta save weight somewhere)), the big trackpad making his cursor jump while typing from his palms running along it, everything being usb c, and the power cable being usb c and not the magnetic connector. He really did love the speed of it all and the feel of the keyboard.

I'm on the fence on a 15" or 13". I'd only use it for travel as I've got a 27" iMac at home and at the office but 2" is 2" (teehee).

I had one like a 2010 model? But it shit out on me a long time ago. This is my first mac in years. I'm a PC guy. But obviously PC doesn't have FCP. I will say I really like this MBP though so far. Definitely an investment but I'm sure I'll have it around for a while. I'll be keeping the internal hard drive free of all files except OS and application stuff.

I can't really address the battery life for you right now, I haven't used it enough to find out. But I'll keep note of it. I do know it's better than my old gaming laptop battery wise though even for just internet browsing. I did some youtube watching of tutorials for FCP and while using FCP and it lasted quite a while, maybe 3 hours (maybe more I dont remember).

The cursor thing I dont have an issue with as I dont have it set to the "tap to click" setting, you have actually press down. I really have come to enjoy the giant fucking trackpad.

USB C is a slight pain at first as you need adapters for EVERYTHING. But let me tell you, transfer speeds of files are insane. Worth the minor inconvenience (and $50 adapter I bought which has 2 USB, micro and standard SD reader, USB C passthrough charging, and HDMI adapter all in one).

I was iffy on the keyboard at well at first but it's starting to grow on me. I don't really like the "touchbar" thing on the top in place of the function keys. It is very gimmicky and I find myself hitting shit on there when I don't want to. BUT, it does have a fingerprint scanner just like the iphones which I really like.

As far as the 13" to 15" it's tough. I would have gotten the 13" but I couldn't get the quad core processor and upgraded video card in the 13" so that was the deciding factor for me.

FML...just what I needed, another hobby.

I want to get into FPV. I was able to snag a brand new Eachine Wizard X220S with a Flysky FS-i6X transmitter for a steal (33% of retail). Now I just need to figure out what goggles I want. On the fence to “buy once, cry once” and go with some FatSharks or go cheap then hunt down a deal on a more expensive set.
