Everything is here or on its way, except the batteries I will use and the Radio/receiver. Any advice on picking a good one, I think I will need 10 channels to control the hex / gimbal. Thinking futaba brand..

    10 seems like a lot.

    channels:
    1: Flight
    2: Flight
    3: Flight
    4: Flight
    5: Flight mode
    6: RTH/Failsafe
    7: Gimbal tilt
    8: landing gear?

5 and 6 could even be run off a single chanel, depending on how many flight modes you want. what otheraccessories are you going to need to control?

Would help when I want to build my bigger hex and have a FPV setup on it for pan and tilt. I would also like another channel if I want to put a Nex and shutter operation

gotcha. so you're going to run an fpv only camera on two servos, separate from the picture/video camera?

I would like to run an FPV setup on 2 servos separate from the camera / gimbal - yes but I don't think I want to do that anytime soon (maybe?), I also don't want to buy a radio with just the right amount of channels, if it costs an extra $150 for another 2 channels, I say what the hay.

budget wise, make sure to closely look at whether or not it comes with a reciever. i'm runnign spectrum on this one. was looking at the different options, and even though it is worded very similarly on the box, the dx7 comes with a RX, but the dx8 does not. so oyu have to budget for the extra $100+

almost said fuck it let's get the DX18. no idea what to use 18 channels for, but man did i feel like a king folding that thing in my hands.

and the dx18 is expensive as hell, no way would I find how to use 18 channels lol. If they dx8 does not come with a receiver (which I was under the impression it did) I spose I would just buy a separate one for each UAV, right? instead of pulling the rx off of a quad and putting it on another

correct. i do that with all of my rc trucks/boats. every time i get/build a new one, i just get another spectrum 2 or 3 channel (depending on the requirements), and bind/tune it. the 3 channel i have will store 20 vehicles. i think my dx7 has the same capacity.

So what is everyone running for their FPV? I've been flying my Hex with a GoPro for recording and now I really want to step it up! I was looking at the FS Attitude V2, a nice all in one. I already have a video Tx and Rx so I was also considering the FS Base, but it doesn't have the head tracking. Not sure if this is a big deal to me yet or not, but was wondering if anyone has any experience? Is fat shark over rated, are there any other systems I should be looking at?

Also, what are you guys running for gimbals? I was thinking about the Tarot 2D.

Very nice! I have the same hexacopter, but from Hobbyking. I see you got the Naza Lite, that's what I wanted to go with originally. I went with a KK2.1 instead, but now I want to upgrade.

I'm also thinking about building a smaller 250 frame. I have a Naze Acro on its way. So I'm debating using it in a new frame or switching out the KK from my hex.

I also have a FY690 on it's way, this is just my toy for the time being, I will sell it eventually. I just wanted to see what I was getting myself in to. The 690 will be decked out completely, I plan on doing FPV while carrying my DSLR and dual 10000 mah batteries

what motors are you going to run on the 690? without even flying it yet, my guess is that the motors will be my limiting factor for the 550 build

I'm not sure yet, I think 750kv will be plenty. I still haven't decided if I want to keep the 690 frame when I get it. It was an impulse buy, and I think I would have been happier with the tarot 960
