Quadcopters anyone?

No need - it comes with a 3axis gimble cgo2 camera - 1080 vid & still shot control via Bluetooth smartphone connection.

I just ant to learn to fly it better before I try the camera.

So I took the blade to a local soccer field that offered a bit more space to really try it out. After about 4 min of flight in the "beginner" mode I was getting a bit frustrated. My brain is still programmed to adjust directional control proportionate to the position of the r/c. So I switched to the AP mode... Holy Fuck what a difference!

This was MUCH better! The quad was much more responsive too. I practiced landing & taking off a few times then did a handful of fly-byes on myself. It's pretty idiot proof lucky for me!

I definetley need to get another battery - 15min flight time went WAY too quick!

Tomorrow I'm going to give it a shot with the camera.

 

Got the camera setup and paired to my iPhone 6

Ordered another battery too

Next I need to figure out how to get the pics & vids off the card and post online.

They go for $999 for the full setup Brand New.
You can just by the quad by itself though for like $400

 

I have a similar quad that i'm looking to sell, pm me if you might be interested. full setup with fpv and brushless gimbal for gopro or sj3000 (included).

has anyone figured out a good backpack setup? i'm thinking about getting some foam to fill a large backpack that i can cut to size...

 

Ya that beginner mode is confusing as fuck if you've got any type of experience...

Well, I've only got about an hour or so of flight time in - plenty enough to know I like it a lot. Not enough to get the "addicted" status...

Na I fly real ones. And I fully support legislation requiring these things to require licenses.

Too many idiots out there messing with things that they have no comprehension or appreciation of the dangerous potential outcomes.

Much like the video above shows. No appreciation for what can happen if control goes awry, landing in someones face for example, or flying into the path of oncoming air traffic without any knowledge of where it could be (cropdusters, military, police, EMS, aircraft on emergency maneuvering). Just like radio controlled airplanes should be confined to R/C aerodromes with the appropriate FAA notices.

Chasing kids with an RC airplane? Sorry no thanks. Better parenting would be to let them play with unloaded guns. With all due respect....

You are assuming that I am flying close to my daughters??? I am not near to them when I fly my quad copter DJI Phantom 2. I do video them from a safe and prudent distance. Nor do I feel it is fair to judge me or other operators of quad copters due to people who are less than intelligent in how they operate their RC aircraft. I seriously doubt that there would be "crop dusters, military, police, EMS, Aircraft on emergency maneuvers" in HOMERTACO's backyard.

You do not know my capability or familiarity with my quad copter nor are you aware of my comprehension or appreciation of what could happen. I do not condone the actions of others who fly over traffic, populated areas or around airports. I agree that they can get away from even an experienced operator. Much the same as operating a motor driven vehicle or in your case "a real one" helicopter I am assuming. Either way if something goes bad for you there are a whole lot more people in serious danger than if my quad copter gets a mind of its own. i am not condemning you for flying that is your choice and right as an American, much the same as my right to fly an RC Quadcopter.

I also own guns. Do I let my daughters play with them loaded or unloaded....no. I have however shown them my guns to stem their curiosity and explain to them what they are and why they are dangerous. I feel it best to educate them rather than leave them wondering.

This implication in your first reply is that you were replying to someone "chasing" their kids...and you love following your daughters also. Now if the word also means that you do the same thing as in the video, that was how your response was intended? Because its fun for the whole family? Cause that was closer than I would consider prudent.

All I'm saying is that the capability of these machines exceeds the capability, airspace knowledge and aviation responsibility of the average consumer. Licensing should be required. Just like a license is required to drive a vehicle on public roadways. Airspace is public domain. Even that above your house.

Driving a car or driving a flying machine is not in the bill of rights.

If you look in the last part of the video you can see the copter about 50-100' above ground level.

Don't tell me each and every owner of a RC copter hasn't tried to take it up as far as they dare just to see what it looks like. You tell me what airspace exists above YOUR flying area, what manned and unmanned vehicles are allowed to be there, and what are the federal equipment, weather, and permission requirements for a flying machine are in that space. I'll bet you more than a case of brew the vast majority of people have no idea even where to look it up. Which is why these things are becoming an issue. Real aircraft ARE having emergency situations because of these things. Its a hot topic in the FAA right now.

Ok how about flying around powerlines? Knocking out an entire block of peoples electricity because someone wants the right to fly a quadcopter? You're right. I don't know about your appreciation of what could happen. All I see is videos of people that look like they have no appreciation and people that cheer them on that say they do the same thing also, and want me to respect their appreciation of what could happen.

(Incidently, there are many videos posted on youtube with real pilots doing stupid crap in real aircraft too. Many of the these videos don't last long due to inevitable embarrassment and realization of legal action by the FAA)

What are the wind requirements on your quad copter to maintain control authority?

What were the measured winds at 5 feet altitude to ensure you would maintain control? What were the winds at 30 feet or 50 feet? If you measure a windspeed at 5 feet above the ground what are the normal wind speeds at 50 feet above the ground? What does the wind do when it hits an obstacle? Yeah I think loss of control on RC copters is very much frequent.

While I don't have a quad copter I do have several RC helos. I usually fly them in an empty hangar.
