This build will be a slow process but the desired result is building the ultimate rig to carry my bird dogs and I deep into remote country to hunt.

I traded in my '15 GMC Sierra Z71 RCSB for my new '18 super white DCLB TRD OR. I had some very minor complaints about the GMC but the real reason for the trade was so my dogs could enjoy climate control with me in the cab (assuming they don't catch any skunks).

    Current mods

    @Tacowiede radio knobs
    Bfg ko2 e rated 265/75/16

    Future mods (before hunting season)

    Full sized spare
Soft topper (sleeping platform and drawers)
Small lift (5100s with 885 and rear aal or 1" blocks f/r)
Rock sliders (if funds and time permit)
    Bed stiffeners

    Future mods (after hunting season)

Sos slim line front bumper and winch
    Mid travel suspension
    Arb onboard air
    4.88s and 285/75/16s (if deemed necessary )
    Ovtune?

Really enjoying my truck so far, I can travel washboard and forest service roads much more comfortably at speed than I could in the GMC.

    First time up the hill.

    Hey,

Just curious how the tires are working out for you thus far? Any rubbing? I hunt and drive into the woods a lot as well, and these BFGs are on my list.

They work perfectly. No rub at all even on some off camber stuff and I only lost about .5mpg.

My Softopper came in yesterday and I got it installed this morning. Now I need to build a platform and drawers back there.

This is a budget build man, decked is definitely out of that budget right now. I have too many hunting trips planned already that I need to figure out how to afford lol.

The way I looked at it, I couldn’t afford not to have it. It’s keeping my guns safe during travel to and from hunting. I’ll take a picture tomorrow and post it here.

We have 3 types of quail, ruffed and blue grouse, pheasants, chukar, and ptarmigan. I've hunted them all quite a bit besides the ptarmigan. I also hunt out of state quite a bit.IMG_20181105_150800_667.jpg

Yeah, ruffed grouse are only in the extreme NW corner of the state up near the Oregon border. We definitely have a lot of variety in the birds to hunt landscape to hunt them in. My shot gun is a 28ga CZ Ringneck, it's about all I shoot anymore.

The second pic is my setter on our trip to ND a few weeks ago, she had pheasants, sharp-tailed grouse, and huns shot over her points that week.

Hey you’re lucky dude to have that much variety and she’s a great looking setter and that’s a sweet gun....... so are you or have you tried to shoot every species of game bird in California? And I’ve always wanteto hunt Idaho...... have you done that?

Thank you. The only one I haven't successfully hunted yet is ptarmigan but I'm going to try harder next year. It's a pain in the ass because it's only a 2 day season and basically a back pack trip in to the high country around 10k and up. I was supposed to hunt ID last weekend but I couldn't make the trip do to having to put my springer down. I have some friends up there that I need to meet up with, probably later this season.

IMG_20190616_145818.jpg Slow build indeed. Finally got around to lifting the truck a bit with Bilstein 6112s set at 4/5 and ome/ Dakar medium leaf springs. Bilstein 5160s are on back order but hopefully will be coming soon.
