Hey, I'm genuinely surprised that manufacturing processes between plants are not identical, despite the difference in labor cost. I guess Toyota knows best!

The Tijuana plant has fewer robots; Toyota instead chose to have human backups just in case the machinery goes down. Since the plant is remote (it doesn't have any suppliers on-site or a dedicated rail line to the facility), all the materials, powertrains, parts and raw materials that are not made at the plant have to be shipped in. That includes the parts, tools and diagnostic software that the robots might need for repair. So the Tijuana plant embraces the idea that the less advanced technology used, the better.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
Let's hope so on the bit with Mazda. I'm personally really excited to see that new motor dropped into the tacomas. I've done a good bit of research on it and it seems as long as they can hammer down the sensor/temp bit, that motor will end up making more power through the whole range and still be able to produce better mpg. How much each category gains will obviously be subjected to real life testing. But let's be honest, anything has got to be better than this RX3gen atkinson.

Dude. China is communist. If you want to trade what we have for what they have go ahead. The most expensive cost in any product is people. Get cheap people and sell it for less and make more money.

Last, you need to re read that article. Toyota is not moving manufacturing from Mexico for the Tacoma. They are expanding their production by 30% for the Tacoma because demand is so high and partnering with Mazda to do so. If you depend on this forum for news, you would think the Tacoma is on its last legs and demand is plummeting. The opposite is true. Even with the new competition of the GM twins and the Ranger coming, more people are wanting the Tacoma than ever. Resale is highest it's ever been and I understand why. This truck is a great little truck!

China's economic system is not communist. They have a lot of state-owned businesses, but all these state-owned businesses are on the brink of failure. China doesn't have a minimum wage and it doesn't have universal healthcare.

There is cheap labor everywhere. The point is, why isn't manufacturing in Africa? or Cambodia? or India? or Mexico? or Brazil?

Be hard to have any output if they're just being stolen right off the assembly line ...

I worked at a large turn-n-burn professional Finance firm for many years. We would hire 100's of people and burn them out until only a few remained to be promoted.

I can tell you that even the most simple tasks are subject to a bell curve--meaning about 50% will do an medium good job, 25% will do an outstanding job and the other 25% will do a horrible job.

They called everyone "A" Players "B" Players and or "C" Players at my work, same exact philosophy as your bell curve.

Mine was built in mexico. Not on recall list, but had weeping differential.
Took it to the dealer yesterday, who ordered the parts and stated it wont be here for about a month.
