Probably cheaper just to buy them already made. There is a whole thread already about them. 20$ Shipped iirc.

I've seen the link on this site as well as Ebay advertising as you posted. I can't imagine a roll of vinyl being more than $20.00. I have already cut a cheaper vinyl in carbon fiber. Looks fantastic. Just looking for future type applications.

I used 3M vehicle wrap vinyl on my grill. It's designed to adhere to vehicles, we use it at work all the time. And it's really forgiving.

Look for 3M 1080 series vinyls. You can get them in any finish, color and in a wide variety of designs (such as carbon fibre, brushed metal look, for those into that) as well.

There are some vinyl types listed in the other thread.

I use Oracal 951 2 mil vinyl, which has a 10-12 year outdoor durability rating. The other sellers are using Oracal 651 (or similar) 3 mil vinyl which is only 5-6 years, the lowest quality for vehicle applications. 651 also has a thicker edge that can be seen and felt.

If you do it yourself get the 951, or just buy mine. I have many hours invested getting the radius of the curves of each letter to match perfectly with the stamped letters. The letters made by the other sellers have squared corners that do not match the curved contures in the deepest part of the letters.

Interested in the carbon fiber look. Haven't seen or know if that's an option with good vinyl? I'll take a picture of my laymen work later. If the CF look is available, please let me know rrentrop.
    Thanks rrentrop, great information.
