I’d be interested in your carpet depending on condition. Been wanting a black carpet for quite a while.

Unless I’m seeing it wrong it looks like the crash did it for him. Windshield looks broken at the passenger side top corner and a piller looks crushed.

Update: My good friend Jered the insurance adjuster spotted by today. After some back and forth he deemed the truck to be a total loss. They are paying out $29,483 - not a bad deal if you ask me? I am still looking into the cost of purchasing the truck back and parting it out - I will keep you guys posted. Currently in the market for a 2013-2015 manual with less than 50k miles if anyone has one sitting in their garage.

That sounds like a mighty fine settlement to me! One caution on buying the truck back and parting it out. Unless you have some time on your hands and a place that you can keep the old truck, it's kind of a PITA. You need to advertise the parts, put up with all of the BS replies, sometimes remove the parts yourself, etc. And, some places (like where I live) will not allow you to have an unregistered vehicle on your property.

    This.

I’ve done a few part outs and while you can make some money it is a huge undertaking. Just consider if you have the time and resources to disassemble, meet people, pack and ship items for weeks and weeks.

What's the matter with them? 6 year old truck and they're offering what's only slightly short of what you pay for brand new. They must REALLY be raping their customers in premiums to justify that.

99.999999999% sure its totaled. Once you hear roll over, most insurance companies will total it unless it's a speciality built vehicle.

Big give away - airbags went out, damage to your A-pillar which shoved your roof line into you B/C pillar lines. What sucks is this... once an airbag goes out, the ENTIRE system ( all sensors and bags) must be replaced since it's to do with safety.

Just take all your aftermarket parts off and the truck is technically done. Someone who shops at Copart will be happy to take what left your possession

The agent at my insurance company told me that she's never seen a vehicle slated for repair that has had the airbags go off (this might not apply if you're talking about a $70,000+ vehicle or something).

    Glad you're alright!

It sounds like we're looking for the same truck right now.

Seems like a decent payout - did they give you extra cash because of any upgrades that you'd put on the truck? tires etc?

It might seem high, but then you're in the range for what a replacement used tacoma will cost. Buying new and buying used aren't so far apart in terms of price.

I briefly considered going used when I was shopping for mine, but given the very minimal price difference, and the fact that it would be hard to get what I wanted used, and new vs who the hell knows what kind of problems... I mean... what the fuck, eh?

For sure, I hear you there.

Although, I haven't fallen in love with the 3rd gen yet!

And I'm not sure my camper will fit quite right on the 3rd gen box...

Remember, from a body standpoint, the 3rd gen is pretty much a slightly re-skinned 2nd gen. I'm 99% sure it will fit.

As for new vs. used, I always say that if you're picky, a new truck is a better deal unless the used truck is at least 3 years old. The resale value is that good.

From what I can read/see it seems like the 3rd gen box is a bit taller (so your cap will stick up higher than on a 2nd gen) and the top of the tailgate is fatter and has a curve. Probably with some modding I could make it work... but a good fit is just such a nice thing to willingly give up.

OP - how far away are you looking to buy? Off Road, Sport, base?

That's a fair payout considering that he'll be into a replacement for that much. Clean, low mileage TRD Offroads from 2012-2015 are running $27,000 to $32,000.

The airbag blew on my 06 when I hit a tire and rim on an interstate and the truck was fixed.
