IFS steering box went in last night. Then picked up two harbor freight 48" levels to help with the alignment. Then installing the drag link and tie rod. Fill the radiator back up, get some ATF fluid in for steering and I should be ready for my shake down run this weekend! :woot:

Getting ready for alignment. 57.625" looks to be the sweet spot.

Put the steering back together today. Only shitty thing is my steering shaft is too short by like 3/8". When I installed the non IFS power steering box a couple years ago I had to lop of a little of the shaft and now its coming back to bite me. So I went to pick n pull to try and find another one. Found an extra cab IFS pickup that had the same one (or so I thought) so I pulled it out without measuring because I didn't have a tape measure and it looked the same. Got home and this is the 18" version instead of the 16" version  So now I know there are two different types. Found a 16" version on ebay for $19 so I guess I'm going with that.

New high steer drag link and tie rod all buttoned up

The steering shaft is collapsible in case of front end collisions. There is a plastic stop in the telescoping area that you can break loose and the shaft will extend.

Found a post on yotatech detailing the process. I think I'm going to use the base shaft of the longer tube with the smaller splined shaft to get it the right length. Thanks again David!

Well I drilled them out tonight and got one of them to start moving. Filled them both up with some pb to help free them up for tomorrow's hammer time!

Well the 18" one broke free fairly easily but the 16" one wouldn't budge. I soaked it in blaster for a day, then heated it with a torch and hit it about as hard as I could with a 5lb sledge and nothing. Last night though the eBay one showed up. Drilled it out and gave it a love tap and it started to move so I continued until it was at 15 9/16", went and test fitted it and bingo. Good to go. Should be back rolling this weekend! :woot:

I'll keep the shorter one thats stuck for a trail spare. The 18" will go in the spare metal bucket :D

Got it all back together yesterday. Drives great. Going out to the garage now to center the steering wheel.

Cool project! I love those older trucks with the 20R-22R engines.
