When I looked at my Tacoma (3 years used and on a lift when I first saw it), the salesperson told me while discussing things he had run my credit (first time anything was said in the conversation). I am a member of a credit union known for excellent rates and knew in the past a dealer said he knew he couldn't beat it, but I let him pitch me first.

HIM: I don't have to tell you that you have excellent credit.
ME: My parents always taught me 'guard your credit with your life, in many ways it IS your life'. (waiting and gently tugging the line)
HIM: Well sir, you are able to get the Toyota special rate on this truck
ME: Ahh, that's good to know. I hadn't planned on that (setting the hook and getting ready to reel him up knowing my rate at the CU is about 4%)
HIM: You'll get the 0.9% rate on this truck!
ME: That's good (shuts mouth about credit union)

We use to have a Dodge/Jeep dealer in this town. I would go in and tell him I was lookin at a Jeep or what not and he would give me the keys and tell me "busy today come back tomorrow." ...man I miss those days.

Age old dilemma. For me it's easier to grab a trailer and have extra outdoor cargo space than it is to try and come up with more indoor space.

Always options when making a deal. If you are a member of a credit union, I’d call them personally and give them a rate to beat. You might get better on your own. 4% is good rate for a vehicle. I’ve financed nearly every vehicle I’ve purchased from Pentagon Federal Credit Union over the last 43 years. Funny thing is, I’ve never set foot in a door. Always been done remotely over phone or using Internet.

Nothing like keeping a vehicle in your garage overnight while deciding if you really should buy it. Looking back, it was only 3 vehicles. 2 I ended up buying and 1 we drove back. Anyways, it was a different times. You know actually I bought, counting...7 vehicles from that dealer. Damn time does fly by. Sorry for thinking out loud.

Toyota extended the financing basically through the end of the year...Just bought today...financed $15K over 5 at 4.99.....I will pay about $2K on 15 over 5 years...They have indicated on the toyota website that only the 48 3.99 is still available for 2023...
