I am planning on driving from Florida to Georgia this weekend to purchase a 2015 sport 4 x4 long bed and trading my 2007 sport long bed.

That was before this I-85 problem...

My concern: The truck has less than 14k miles but the tires are not original. They are different set in the front and back. Two sets of different brand tires.

Also the front brake pads were replaced as well as the rotors turned.

Does this seem to be a problem to you at 14k miles? Do you think it was used to tow?

This was a lease vehicle sold at Toyota auction to the Georgia dealer.

    Thanks so much in advance!

The tire's I can understand since a flat could have happened to a few tires.

The brake thing sounds like they either towed a lot or brake really hard. But in reality theres really nothing you can do to see how the truck was treated in the past. With low miles, even if they beat on the truck the entire time it really should be fine unless it was in an accident

How far north was the truck? I know Rome Honda (I think) had a Barcelona Red. I just stopped my 4x4 dclb hunt since I got mine last week, but if its that close I could swing by and snap some pictures of the tow hitch and such.

It is in Smyrna at the Lexus dealer if you happen to drive by.

Those Long Beds sure are hard to find, aren't they? I just want to fit my DiamondBack cover to the newest truck it will fit.

I'm in Cartersville, if I went that way its probably 1.5 hrs now with the traffic on a weekend. Would have to be a indirect route to avoid 85/285

And yeah my long bed came from SC with 51k miles. Its a SR5 but the tow hitch was never used and the paint was really straight. Just a few marks from a power car wash.

depends on how bad you dont want to risk the trip you could try to check with someone in the GA forums that is closer. Im sure you could pay someone to take more detailed pictures and test drive the truck so you atleast have a idea about it.

I am surprised a dealership would sell a truck with mismatched tires, they usually wont take a trade in that way,and if they do new tires are put on.The O.P should insist on new tires as part of the deal.

It really doesn't matter. Who cares about the tires. Some people get cheap and buy used tires. It will make no difference what so ever of they are a different brand or tread.

The guy probably rode his brakes a lot (most people drive too aggressively). Or did exclusively city driving.

If he towed that much I bet the leaf springs would be flat by now.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

Update: Came back from my 800 mile round trip with my 2007 Toyota!

I looked at the truck in person...the bed was severely scratched, the plastic top cap on the bed was loose and fell off when I touched it. The spare tire was bald. I did not even look at the inside of the truck; I just handed the key back and said," I can't trade down." I left to cool off at a nearby McDonalds. Thought about my $500 deposit. I called back but the salesperson would not pickup. Went back to dealer to get my deposit back. Looked at truck once more from the comfort of my truck. (I drove 400 miles to see this!!) The salesperson came out and said, "do you want to at least drive it?" My wife was saying,"NO, NO" I wanted closure. I drove the truck in 4wd for a few feet. It felt squirrely. Stopped and put it in 2wd then took off again. There was a loud BANG sound. I am pretty sure that should not happen.

Anyways drove the truck on highway 285. The engine as very loud, pushing all it could to stay up with traffic. I drove back to the dealership. Lowered the seats in the back to see the hidden compartments. They were scratched up very bad as if they loaded the with cement or something white. There was white residue all over the underside of the back seats. I figured that is why the brakes went out, they were using this truck like a mule.

I was done. Next time I will look local. Good lesson.

That's the gamble you take..... well, better to lose money on gas and time than if that truck looked good and ended up being a lemon. I wonder how the dealership thought they could sell it if it was in that crappy of condition. I mean a 2015 should be in decent condition since it's 2 years old.

I warped my rotors twice and have never towed anuything with it . I have a 2015 DCLB 4X4. As far as tires go to me it sounds like they had rims and iverauzed tires on it and when the lease was up they had to rush to ouece together rims and tires. Most likely they sold the stocks right away not thinking the dealer wanted them back

I shopped on cars.com and found that vehicles were consistently well photographed such that what you found should have been revealed in advance. A shopping resource to consider.

Looks pretty good in those pics if it is! Course no under seat or in bed shots - and who would think to ask for those?

Just keep the hunt going, dont get discouraged or give in to a sub par vehicle. Also mileage may not kill you, I got my truck with 55k and the only thing I found wrong was a dent under the emblem on the tailgate.
