So me and a friend just put in the Toytech 2.0 BOSS suspension lift in my 2017 Tacoma with add a leaf and shims.

    (Link of lift: )

First of all, I gotta say I love the ride and the stiffness. I am however curious about the rear when I hit bumps. There seems to be a louder clunk than stock in the rear when I hit just potholes, small bumps, stuff in the road, etc and it is ONLY when I hit bumps. Is this just because of the stiffer ride and the fact that I have no weight whatsoever in the bed of my truck? Or something else?

Just want to make sure what I'm hearing is what I'm supposed to be hearing, not because something is wrong.

**UPDATE: Turns out my rear shock had no gas pressure in it at all. Had to buy a new shock and will have to send in the old one to Toytech to be analyzed for a claim. They gave me a new shock and everything runs fine now.

Did you participate in the install? Do you trust your friends ability to install? Are you sure the sound is going from the rear?
Do you have anything in tHe bed? Is the spare tire still tight? Did your friend remove the center pin to install the AAL? Is the center bolt in the leaf pack tight? Did you put weight back on the rear of the truck before tightening the shackles?

lots of possibilities but a loud clunk doesn’t sound right

I rechecked everything to make sure it looked right and checked what I could with my truck still on the ground. It's a very interesting sound. I've come to the conclusion that it's only on the passenger side rear wheel upon hitting harsher bumps than normal. It sounds and feels like the wheel is just replanting itself very hard? At first I thought it was my shock topping out but I can't imagine it doing that on such shallow bumps.

I'll be bringing it to the garage this weekend to check everything and ensure nothing is wrong with the installation.

Update: Rear shocks are supposed to be filled with gas (nitrogen I believe?). Well, turns out my shock on the passenger side was completely empty causing my clunk over sharp bumps.
