    Strange title i know..

My question is: Is it legal to have a small sign one your side windows of your truck that says something like "Careful.. I am a concealed gun permit holder."
    or something to that nature.

I ask because where I live, we have some vehicle brake ins and I am about to have a Tacoma that will defiantly catch the eye of some of these individuals. I have already had my Tundra broken into. I figure if they see this next time they try and smash my window in to get a damn radio they may second guess themselves. Please tell me your thoughts on this or if you have another suggestion.. that is besides change neighborhoods.

Also, if you can think of a better phrase to have on a sticker, I would love to hear it.

Wolfpack pretty much summed it up I wouldn't do it but I would think that putting one one might actually increase your chance of a break in of the truck because then they can steal the gun, if you leave it in the truck which you should never do unless it's locked up tight, and use it for whatever reason then dump it and it get traced back to you via registration of the handgun.

It would not be locked in my truck. I want them to know that I carry on myself so when my alarm goes off, they know a very angry man will be coming out of the house packin so is this brake in really worth it.

yeah but it just throws up a red flag and a challenge. now if you got some sticker on your glass that showed you have an alarm system that might do the trick. . . it's kind of like when you go to a rest stop and there are signs in the grass that say "please clean up your poop" but you just poop there anyway to stick it to the man and don't pick it up. same principal. . . . or am i the only one that does that?. . . . . . maybe i shouldn't have said that.

*Break. And I know leo's who's houses, cars, etc, have been broken into; there's really nothing you can do to stop a break in except have evidence that they did it, arrested, charged, and convicted. You can only deter it which an alarm will stop most would be robbers/vandals but if one wants something bad enough they will get it.
    Edit: jg

I agree why advertise? You might lose the element of surprise! I'd love to catch someone trying to break into my Tacoma! I stay away from putting decals on my truck to like a browning logo in the back window, Leupold etc. It just brings around the would-be's.

I could also see that being construed as a threat and a reason to lose your CCW permit.

If you're going to do anything, just put an NRA sticker on your window. No one knows if there's a gun in there or not, but it makes them think. If you end up in court you just say "it's just an NRA sticker, lots of hunters have them".

+1 rep for taking the words right out of my mouth!

jg may not be house broken, but he has a point. No need to challenge some lowlife into breaking into your truck.

I carry every day, every where I go. But I start my day by praying that I never, ever, ever need it. If I do need it, I pray that the bad guy never, ever sees me coming.

You really want to go to jail over a stereo?
Unless you're sleeping in your truck, you will be prosecuted.
