picked up a 2019 tacoma after i wrecked my 2014.

there was a spot on the bumper and rather than knock money off, dealer said they'd repaint it -- this is where i screwed up, i know.

first attempt, they painted wrong color just botched the shade. 2nd attempt, looks better BUT guy missed a spot by the fog light..

i was able to get compensation from dealer that'll cover cost of body shop to replace bumper but to me that's a waste and i can use that money for tires

my question is can i just hit this spot to the left that's raised with a oem clear coat pen? i looked into spray max 2k and picked up rustoleum which i'll likely return.

it's a truck, it's the front bumper, it's going to get dinged. i should have left it but didn't and now just don't want it to peel in a few months

    thoughts? please don't shred me

It appears the dealer didn’t remove the bumper to prep and paint it. I honestly did a better job than that with a rattle can, some newspaper and frog tape(no joke)

Maybe take it back and tell them to do a proper paint repair.

correct, they used a "bumper guy" both times, didn't remove. got financial compensation to go to a local body shop who wants to order a new oem bumper to get as close to it as possible. said they can't sand the textured plastic so replacing it is their recommendation.. quicksand color makes it tougher too. just want to stop it from getting worse sooner than later and use the compensation for things that'll actually bring my joy like bigger tires.

I’d reconsider spending the money on mods, and get it fixed correctly. There’s a good chance, their attempts at fixing it may have made it worse.
Of course I am the same guy that wouldn't start the mods until it's paid off too.

Get it fixed right and be done with it is my thought . You can always save up to get the tires. At least you be starting with a clean sheet of paper . Again this is just my opinion and how I would go .a
Ways remember down the road of you ever sell the truck that looks bad

Ok, so that area has what looks like shiny paint under it. So the "bumper guy" did not prep the bumper before spraying it. That area will peel more, if you hit it with clear, that will peel too.
The only way to correctly fix that patch is to strip the whole bumper and have it repainted. This has its own problems as the bumper is textured and you may end up with burn through that will result in smooth spots and textured spots.
I 100% guarantee that if you take a pressure washer to your bumper, a good amount of paint is going to blow right off of it. That is why I say you need to strip the whole bumper, patching just that spot will still end up with paint flaking off the rest of the bumper.
