Hi, I'm new to tacoma world and just got my first taco last week. Unfortunately, the truck only came with one set of key + remote so I have looked into the ebay "blank" key and remote which also comes with instructions on how to program the remote.

My question is if anyone on here has actually used these keys/remotes and are they reliable or is it another POS ebay item? Any input is greatly appreciated!

you can buy a chipped key off ebay...a locksmith can program it for you and would probably be cheaper than the dealer.

just make sure if you have the chipped key, to get one with a chip in it.

Just purchased my blank transponder key for $15 and my new remote for $27.94 for a total of around $43. Now we wait and see if it was a $43 well-spent or not.

*UPDATE - So I got my remote/fob today and followed the instructions and it's working perfectly. So far so good 28 bucks well spent. I also managed to spend 5 hours on Saturday washing, clay bar-ing, and waxing my taco. The results were AMAZING.

This was my first time actually trying out clay bar and I'm very pleased with the results. My friends wouldn't stop harrassing my taco because she was so silky smooth. haha
