    Hello all,
I was looking to upgrade the suspension on my SR5. I plan on doing Bilstein 5100s all around and an Add a Leaf in the rear. I read somewhere on here that if you have an SR5 you should also upgrade the coilovers and springs when going with a setup like this on SR5s. Is this a true statement? Any advice is appreciated. (I plan on upgrading to 275/70/17 tires as well)

There is nothing about your SR5 that requires special treatment. The Pro is the only trim with a significantly different set of shock absorbers.

I have owned both an sr5 and an or. I noticed nothing different about the shocks on or off the road.

People have certainly said that. How many of them have owned both?

I’m aware they are different, but I did not notice any difference. It’s possible the OR shocks have more ability to shed heat and I never really pushed either to their heat dissipation limit.

Hitachi's vs Bilstein. How did you not notice?

I have 5100s all around and I changed no coilovers or springs. I did leave my truck at stock height.

I regret not trying my stock springs on the Bilstein 5100s first before buying new springs for them.

It was a no brainer for me. Bilstein recommended it, I listened...

Did you get a length and spring rate from Bilstein by chance?
Not having mine anymore for comparison is my regret.

Sell your measly little 1/4 ton and replace it with an F-250 or a Ram. If you want to lift it you obviously want a bigger truck so why'd you but a tiny little Taco in the first place?

:D. I know your kidding buddy, when you said this.

Love my little lifted 1/4 ton truck Josh and would NEVER, EVER get stuck with an F-250 or a Ram. My Taco does what it needs to, looks awesome doing it, and is SUPER reliable.
Can't say the same for my 3 RAM friends. :bucket:

Hummmm . . . . the TRD Off Road, at least the 2022, does come stock with upgraded Bilstein 4600 shocks and stiffer coil springs rated 200lbs more than the SR5.

It really depends on how the OP plans on using the truck. Going Off Road vs just a better ride on the pavement. Certainly 5100s all around would improve the ride. The other stuff coils, AAL and larger tires all depends on does the OP want to just level the truck lift it to go off road or just for looks etc.

I want a little more clearance and better ride on my daily driver. I don't do aggressive off roading. Just the usual forest/country roads when I go fishing, camping, hiking.
