My sliders arrived a few days ago and I decided I'd get started this afternoon. Things have not gone well for me at all. I am on step 6 of the instructions (http://mobtownoffroad.com/wp-conten...oma-Rock-Slider-Installation-Instructions.pdf)
I cannot for the life of me figure out how you guys are getting the both with the welded rectangular washer up inside the cross-member, then up and over the frame and then finally with the bolt sticking out of the hole. Even if I could make all of that happen, I can't hold the backside of it so it seems like it'd be easily tapped back into the frame while trying to line up the slider. I haven't seen anyone else complaining about this particular step so I must be missing something, but I'd definitely appreciate any help at all from @Mobtown Offroad or anyone with experience.
    Thanks all,
    Shannon

Thanks for the offer nonetheless. Maybe it'll look different tomorrow with a fresh set of eyes.

I think he may have changed the design since I bought mine since I think that was a nut welded to a backing plate on mine. Either way, a magnetic pickup tool is invaluable I find for stuff like this but I think I just held it in place with a couple of fingers.

That's why I am thinking I'm doing something wrong. I can get two fingers in the hole, no way is anyone getting their hand in there, so maybe I'm not in the right spot. Besides that though, the distrance is just too far and too many obstacles in the way even once up inside the cross-member.

I have, what I've always called, a 'mechanical finger" ... very bendy, with a plunger on one end that actives a grip on the other end... I just had way too many bends to navigate with it and couldn't get it to work.

I got the bolt through the hole, then tied the bolt with dental floss (any strong nylon thread will do). Even if the bolt falls back inside, just pull the bolt back out via the thread.

After I'd had enough for the night and came inside, I thought about maybe routing a piece of string, then tying it off and pulling it all the way up into place. That sounds like it'd be worth a shot.

I have RCI, installed on my own in maybe 2-3 hours.
Like mentioned above the time consuming part is just removing stuff and then fucking with nuts and bolts in tight spaces.

I know nylon locking nuts are nice and easy for staying tight and all but they are a fucking bitch to work with as you have to hold both with a wrench to tighten the whole way, can't just snug up by hand then pull out the tools.

the hardest part for me was just lining them up properly then getting the bolts started.

You’ll most likely never get it if you’re doing this alone. Someone holds the slider in place while the other directs that welded bolt thru the hole in the flange.

Thing is, I can't get the welded bolt through the hole in the framel. I haven't even tried to do it holding the slider.

Installation can be done solo. The hardest part is the first bolt on the bottom in the middle of the slider. 2 jackstands and a scissors jack. Rest the slider close to the truck on the jackstands. Inch the slider up and in position with the jack. Get the first bolt in and it doesn’t come crashing down on you. The rest is easy peasy. A second pair of compentent hands would have been nice but not necessary.

I used adjustable straps and jackstands to hold the sliders in place. Was easy enough that way

yeah with some finangling I managed to do my mobtown sliders solo - they can be held up with jackstands if you spend a little time experimenting with heights.

the driver's side rearmost bolt by the gas tank is still a crime against God and Man and I want to fight Mobtown for making me do it. The rest isn't too bad.
