There is a guy a couple towns over from me selling new in box Old Man Emu shocks, but he bought them two years ago. Do the shocks age from time, like a tire or only if they are being used? Will these shocks lift the rear of my truck? Also, he is asking $80. They been for sale for a couple months.

If they are new and unused they'll be just fine. They won't deteriorate at all in two years of just sitting.

Shocks will not give you any lift.

Do you know what model shock they are? Nitrocharger Sport? Make sure they are the ones meant for a Tacoma. There are quite a few models of OME shocks for different applications. You wouldn't want a Land Cruiser shock for instance since it would be too long and valved differently.

I just texted him for model name. In the description he states that they are for a 95.5-2004 Taco. Will these shocks take bumps better than stock?

    Box Rocket is the expert.....

    My 2 cents

01 stocks shocks, must have lots of miles??... It really depends on the type of driving you do. If your truck is a DD ( Daily Driver )street and highways, has not been used heavily .. You may not notice much difference.. Most things work in combinations.. You have leaf springs working with the shocks.. The one thing that is certain is that for that price, it would be the perfect time to upgrade! Just confirm model #... & most importantly are they for stock or one that has a lift??:D

if those are the same shocks they are probably for lifted applications so ideally you'd want to use them with 2-2.5" of lift. They might work with stock suspension but will probably be too long and could bottom out especially if your stock springs are pretty tired.

Yea, I have 208k on the stock shocks. Guy said he thinks they provide up to 3 inches of lift, but he will confirm tomorrow and send me a picture. Unfortunately, I'm vertically challenged, so want to keep stock height lol. If anything, I might just pick them up and pass them on to a fellow TW member.

They will not "provide" 3" of lift but they will fit a suspension that is lifted 3" already.

    Looks like a fit:

Scroll down till you see: OLD MAN EMU SUSPENSION SYSTEMS. You will see rear shock info...No lift listed.. So i would say good 2 go! The asterick noted, stiffer shock, still a nice upgrade....

    Confirm with Box-Rocket....

Yea I saw them a couple months ago and didn't give it a thought, but he just reposted them and i have some extra cash laying around :D. The only thing is that if they have been sitting like that for two years, then isn't that like the equivalent of having the bed completed loaded down and then leaving it for two years?

There is no problem of them sitting like that for 2 years, they will be perfectly fine. Yes they will bolt up, but like BoxRocket said they are made for lifted applications. On stock leaf springs they could bottom out and ruin the shock. It would be wise to get a new leaf pack or AAL for use with these.

Incorrect, they are for use with Dakar rear leaf springs, which provide a lift. They are a longer rear shock because they are designed to be used in conjunction with lift springs.
