Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy my first tacoma and I was wondering if Toyota made a V6 6speed Access cab with a hood scoop that isn't TRD. I know this is a weird request but the truck that I'm looking at on autotrader fits this description. I just thought it was strange that this truck has a hood scoop when it isn't TRD. Thanks

it's possible that the owner replaced the hood, but highly unlikely. You are correct in that a hood scoop = TRD Sport.
When I was shopping for mine, it was incredible the amount of misleading ads I saw...even from dealers!
just go see it...and if you don't want the scoop, trade me for my hood.:D:rolleyes::cool:

Its a TRD sport, unless they replaced the grill, rear bumper, mirrors, door handles, seats, wheels, changed the interior color, and added the hood scoop.

Haha, the hood scoop isn't essential for me but I doubt shipping cost to Canada would make it worth your money. Damn, this site is active! I believe I'll be posting often if I finally get my tacoma. I've been wanting one since I was 16 (I'm 24).Thanks for the help.

Definitely a TRD sport minus the stickers. Look at the interior picture. You can see the switch for the built in power inverter for the bed. Plus all of the other TRD features.

    TRD Sport without the stickers.

Better than a non-TRD with the stickers...

Don't tell the dealer, they'll want more for it.

So I asked the dealer to check the shocks to see if they're bilstein and he said they were. They were clueless about this being a TRD. He's said "well now were gonna have to raise the price". I told him I'd give him 16,500 for it. You guys think that would be a good buy? Anything I should look for when I inspect the truck? Thanks

If you can get it for 16,500 take it.. they priced it as if it were a non-TRD.. they already raised the price to almost 18 just because you pointed out to them it is in fact a TRD. GET IT!
if you don't like it... you should be able to get 18 out of it ;)

When you check it out... check out the rear differential to see if it is Limited Slip (since it's TRD Sport).. should see a sticker on there there that says "LSD oil only" or something like that. That's the only thing that I can think of that would say 'Hey, I'm a TRD Sport without my stickers'.. other than the stuff the other guys have pointed out already.
