    Got this:

The holes are not small enough to capture the neck of center pins so the head just rests down inside them. They don’t leave enough of it available for the recess in the axle. There is probably a few mm sticking through. It seems as though this is its intended orientation. This seems less that ideal. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

When adding that shim the the leaf pack bolt should be replaced so the shim is bolted to the leaf pack and the center pin rests in the axle pad.

Like I said, the hole is too large. Its meant to float between, not be bolted to the pack. If you look at the steel ones next to the al ones, the hole is much much smaller. The bolt I have is long enough, but Id have to use a giant washer.

Then I’d get the shim that has the smaller hole so that the center pin is holding it to the pack and the entire pin is in the axle pad, that is the correct installation.

So I have the ones that the hole is the (seemingly) correct size. The shop that installed them put them between the leaf and a 1/2" block spacer (Icon 3 leaf AAL + 1/2" block to get a little rake). Seems to me they should be on the very bottom, between the block spacer and the axle pad/mount. I think with the small 1/2" block it may not matter much but it seems to me that the optimal position would be below the leaf and spacer. Seems like the current set up may stress the rear part of the ubolt more than necessary. Comments?

So in case anyone was losing sleep over my shim situation, I installed steel shims today that bolt directly to the spring pack.
