question about rear view mirror vibration

    I don't really like the OE rear view mirror, so I put on a Broadway one. It was fine for a while but then the mirror started to just fall and face downward. is there a way to keep the mirror from tipping all the time (i put my volume up a lot when I drive)? It just dangles in a sense with no restrain, when I don't have the music up all, it looks to be fine. I put it at an angle I want and holds up, then the bass hits ... ... :(

    Sounds like you might have gotten a faulty mirror. They shouldnt be that sensitive cause think of all the bumps and dips you hit from just daily driving.:cool:

    WTF? :mad: VERY true, I would take this one road from work and back, UGLY ass dip/pot hole thing in the middle of one of the lanes. You'd know it got you when your passenger side dramatically donks (used to ride my Blazer to work at times draggin ass, sucks to cause it's a HUGE traffic area, wasn't paying attention, just wanted to MOVE lol, DONK!). But the mirror was fine, not sure how long I had the Broadway mirror on, but I know it wasn't doing that when I first put it on, the mirror even felt a bit hard to move around, now its all jelly.

    Oh so your saying the Broadway piece is just a piece that goes over the stock mirror correct? I also have an aftermarket mirror that goes over my stock one and mine doesnt move around at all.:cool:

    It didn't really move either when I first put it on, I was subbin for a while also, and no odd movement than the usual (vibrated the same way the OE one did), just one day, jelly! from then on ... :( I really like it on there too, I got too used to the Broadway being on there, can't stand the OE mirror).

    If your under warranty I'd have it looked at/replaced. If not or you don't want to deal with the headache of going to the dealers I've heard of people putting hot glue in the little ball piece that the mirror swivels on to hold it in place.

    not sure about the warranty, but F! the dealer!!!! they tried to charge me a gang JUST to have my door looked at when I burned out an actuator :mad: I fixed it less than 5 min. and UNDER $20 or so. SWEETT!!!!! I'm about to head out to the 99 cent store too (they have BAGS of them).

    well just as I was about to head out ... RETARD me, I found out how to fix the problem without even doing much of anything!!! lol I was trying to figure out how to remove the mirror when I seen the extra pivot ball. I have mainly owned older vehicles so this part was new to me. At first it was at middle tilt or something like that which let the mirror fall down a lot, just needed some weight and BOOM! so I just tilted the 2nd pivot ball all the way up, put the mirror all the way down and put reinstalled my Broadway, now that bitch won't go to jelly on me!!! and well if it does, it's not a problem :D
    Still going to do the hot glue thing though, just to be safe.

    Just to throw it out there, I had an issue with the stock mirror always pointing down from my sub vibrations. I put a few drops of super glue on the ball joint and worked it around until it dried. It now stays up and moves fine.

    I'm not used to this rear view (I have mainly owned older American vehicles), there's two pivot points, epoxy/glue those two or just the one by the window/by mirror?
