I am looking into purchasing a 1998 Tacoma Trd with a supercharger. My question is did Toyota supercharge them from
The factory or is that aftermarket. My other question is what does a supercharger add? Thanks for any insight

They did not come from the factory supercharged, but TRD makes (well, actually made) a bolt-on kit. The supercharger really wakes up the 3.4L motor.

Sounds a little high for 2wd.

Does sound a little high for a 2wd but they're probably figuring in the value of the supercharger. The supercharger adds 60-ish horsepower IIRC and about the same amount of torque, I don't remember the exact numbers but it's around there. You definitely feel the difference.

With that many miles on it though (200k) you should find out how many miles are on the supercharger. The superchargers typically need to be rebuilt after they have around 100k miles or so on them, and rebuilding them can be pretty expensive especially if you don't/can't do it yourself and have to ship it out (around $1,000).
