looking at getting a 2020 or 2021 Tacoma Off road or Pro, but I have a few questions about the truck
    1. Remote start, does the truck stay running after the doors are open and then I have to hit the started button or insert the key? our 2015 Lexus GX460 turns off when you open the door.
    2. At night with remote start, do the headlights come on as if the truck was started with the key? nice to have a lighted way to the truck
    3. Can you manually turn off the air bags off road or is it automatic for roll over? my 2006 GX470 has a button to turn off the side air bags.
    4. using Navigation and With Car Play, can I use the car navigation or does Apple Maps rule. I know some other makes, when you phone is hook up, then Apple Maps are the only ones you can use.
    5. Does the headlights come on with the wipers on. found a post that says no, but I like this feature, can it be programed?
    6. Are the high beams LED. not a big deal, they can be added.
    7. Off road and lowing tire pressure, can you reset the pressure reading or will it keep beeping. dont want the truck beeping at me when I drop the tire pressure to 15 lbs.

    1. Truck shuts off when door opens
    2. IDK
    3. No manual shut off for airbags
    4. IDK
    5. No
    6. Not sure, but I don't think so.
    7. No reset, but low pressure is only a dash light. No beeping.

    1. Shut off when unlocked
    2. If you have the headlights turned on or auto
    3. If you have the RSCA button. I don't even recall if I have it on my 20.
    4. You can switch to the native navigation when your phone is plugged in, both Apple and Android.
    5. No.
    6. With the LED headlights yes.
    7. I haven't messed with that myself, but there is a way.

You can set the TPMS for the pressure that you would like to have it turn on the low pressure light. Not sure it's practical to change when you air down for 4-wheeling. It does not beep so no worries there. You have all kinds of lights come on when wheeling, 4lo, or 4hi, trac off, any crawl or terrain mode lights, etc....very busy dash at that point. I like to keep it on the pressure display during wheeling in case I do puncture a tire I will know very quickly so I can find a good spot to be able to change the tire and not block others...

I just tried remote start, and it's absolutely stupid having to start my engine 2 seconds after it shuts off. Ford got this right. Toyota is becoming very annoying to me. This and how I accidentally lock my doors in my garage when I walk past it. I don't know anybody who locks their Tacoma door with their finger on the outside door handle. The unlock sensor is handy, but they had to go and do this shit now.

I lock my truck using my finger more often than the remote. I close the door, touch the handle and walk away.

I do! :blahblah::locked:... but then again, you don't know me.

I like the feature, but can appreciate that you don't.

I guess I'm the weirdo who is amused by the locking/unlocking when I'm washing the truck.

Ok, in that circumstance, I agree. The locking and unlocking is frustrating. I just don't carry my keys when I wash the truck. Leave them out of the sensor range and there won't be an issue.

Most manufacturers do it this way. BMW, MB, etc...the reason is so that you can't mix it up, and don't get hung up try to lock it or unlock it and end up with the opposite as most folks don't know the difference between chirps to be able to "hear" what they just did. But if you think about it, it's actually better this way since when you open the door, you HAVE to tug the handle, but if you had to lock it by also grabbing the handle, you would be standing still till it happens where as the top outside lock touch sensor allows you to brush it AS you walk away and not get hung up on grabbing the handle until it locks. I think this is sleeker than having a small push button on the door handle to press. This keeps you conditioned from making the mistake of double tapping then peaking at the locks (if your car isn't super tinted and it's not dark out) to ensure it did what you "think" it did. I'd be wasting more time trying to ensure it locked if it were a dual purpose lock/unlock sensor on the inside of the handle. However, to each his own. There are devices out there than can lock your door if the fob isn't inside the car and as you walk away from the sensing field and unlock (if you set it that way) when you're within the VERY CLOSE proximity of the device's field of detection.

And just as a small side note about telling the difference between a lock chirp and the unlock chirps, but universally it's pretty creative in that it is based on syllables or the word "lock" and "unlock":

    - a single chirp means "lock(ed)" - one syllable.
    - a double chirp means "un-lock(ed)" - two syllables...un & lock(ed). One of the two chirps is for the "un" and the second chirp is for the "lock(ed)"

Ditto, especially when the neighbors are outside walking by, like why the F is his truck having a beep seizure.

When remote started push button start models shut off, keyed models (SR/SR5/TRD manual tans.) don’t. My remote start turns on the marker lights but not the headlights. High beams should be LED if you get the LED headlight option. If you want navigation besides CarPlay make sure it actually has that, my radio has a map button but it doesn’t work without CarPlay. It’s another option to have nav. built in.
