Just pulled a 5x8, 300 miles last weekend. Houston to Dallas so pretty flat. The Uhaul was about 1/2 full with furniture. Held it right at 70. Didnt even know it was back there. 13.7 MPG though. 2022 OR with Sumo springs.

Fully loaded with zero problems. Except the wheel that fell off the trailer going down the highway. Maybe give it a once over before accepting it lol. Took this one from NY to SC.

It's rated to PULL 6500 lbs. But at sea level, on level ground with only a driver in the cab. Start adding additional passengers and cargo to the truck and start pulling it at altitude over 5000' and up inclines and you have to reduce that 6500 lbs. In the real world Tacoma's max out at 4500-5000 lbs, even less at high altitude.

And if you don't have a transmission cooler you're limited to 3500 lbs. Check the trailer weight, the empty weight of a 6X12 is 1900 lbs with a GVWR of 4400.

Assuming you have a tow package with a transmission cooler, and assuming you don't overload the trailer you should be OK.

As said earlier your truck will PULL 6500 lbs under ideal conditions. But that doesn't mean your trucks suspension will handle the weight of a 6500 lb trailer. There is a sticker on your drivers door jamb with a payload rating. MOST Tacoma's fall between 1000-1200 lbs. Some are a bit more or less, but each truck is different. You need to determine that number. The tongue weight of a 4400 lb trailer is going to be about 575 lbs if the trailer is loaded correctly. Figure 13% of trailer weight. If your truck has 1200 lbs payload that leaves you 625 lbs for you, any passengers, and cargo in the truck If your payload is closer to 1000 lbs that only leaves you 425 lbs to work with.

I recently pulled 4000 properly loaded lbs with ECT and towing package. No problems. Yes it drinks gas. I have done a lot of towing with bigger trucks. This still went well. Uhauls can be new or they can be shit. Let them know you need a decent one before pickup. I’d not recommend 70 with a uhaul even if it doesn’t shake too much. I bet if you do the math 65 will get you there in similar time.

Just towed a loaded 6 x 12 dual axle enclosed U Haul from NY to FL with a our BMW X5. It was fine up to 70 but a bit squirrelly beyond 72. I got brake checked by a NC State cop @ 2 AM going north of 70

Ha!! It cost me $800 to rent that piece of shit and spent 3 hours in the Bronx getting a new trailer and having all my shit moved from one to the other. They did not budge when I asked for a discount

Hauled a loaded UHaul 6x12 from Iowa to Colorado last fall. ETC button and S4 and 70+ the whole way. No issues and towed fine. Stay out of the overdrive 5&6 and you'll be fine. Avg fuel mpg for the entire trip was 14.
This was with a 2020 OR DCLB.

I looked into it not a option for me I live in BFE rural town lol. I basically have to drive 3 hours to load my stuff up lol. I might as well rent a trailer.

Naw man they drop the thing at your door, in your driveway. I mean if you can get U.S. Mail you can get one of these things delivered -

You load it, you lock it, they deliver it.

Pulled one from Anchorage to Fairbanks last month through the mountains with a couple thousand lbs of tile. No problems at all. Just give yourself some extra stopping distance. My last truck had an exhaust brake so I’m still getting used to the brake pedal having to do the work.

Just finished towing a Classic MINI on a U-HAUL car carrier and was astounded with the fuel economy. The trip was about 500 miles. Trailer weighed 2,200 pounds. Classic MINI weighs 1,500 pounds. Towing this I average between 19 and 20 MPG. I expected between 12-15 MPG. I did limit my speed to 55 MPH. Also running 19 pound FN Wheels on 245/75/16 tires. Very happy with this.
