I recently purchased a 1996 tacoma that had a giant rat living inside of it. I removed the glovebox to look up under the dash for any rat activity and found some wires had been chewed through. I can't find any information on what the relay and wires are used for. Everything in the truck seems to be functioning fine, except I couldn't get the cruise control to stay on so I'm thinking it's that.
If anyone can identify what any of those wires are for it would be greatly appreciated. I'll upload some pictures

Yeah it was a surprise to find a nest up there. The leather around the shifter was all chewed up so I'm thinking he went through there.

At least you didn’t have a family living in your engine bay. Rats ate everything in the engine bay of my ‘86 300zx while it sat for years. Everything from the stickers on the hood, wire jackets, the fiberglass insulation, vacuum lines, and even the caulking around body lines.

That’s an important connector I believe it’s the patch harness for the ECU. Just cut out the affected areas, and re-solder new wires.

Yeah I'm going to take your advice and re-solder the wires. I looked around more and saw no chewed wires on the actual ECU so thats great. However, I found all of the cruise control stuff under the side panel and found some more chewed wires, so I'll re-solder all of that as well.

Above the cruise control ECU I found the what I believe to be the Transmission control relay with some chewed wires and what looks to be a missing plug. I'm thinking the missing plug is for automatic transmission and since my truck is manual it doesn't have the plug. Any advice or help with any of this would be great.
I have no experience with electrical stuff and minimum mechanical experience so I'm just figure it out as I go. I'll upload some pictures and the diagram I've been usingIMG_1319.jpg IMG_4336.jpg txgAl.jpg

Wow that damn rat chewed through your speaker wires.

That’s all those are. Speaker wires. The connector below it is for the door lock actuators, power mirrors, and window motors if you had them.

Yeah the truck was sitting for a few years before I bought it so it was pretty nasty. Thanks for all the help, and I'm taking notes on your build - you're truck looks awesome

Haha thanks! I’ve been neglecting that build thread recently.
