    Hello all, new forum member with a TON of reading to get thru. That said, first order of business is to actually get my Tacoma. In my neck of the wood a Toyota Dealer has the following available:

    - 2016 DCSB TRD Sport 4x4
    - Tow Package
    - Certified Pre-Owned
    - Mileage @ 1725

    The dealer is asking $35976. Now I know Tacomas hold their value, but am I wrong in thinking that this is still high? That is virtually the price off a true brand new Tacoma. Thoughts of those here? What should I offer?

    Buy a new one.

    No telling what troubles the previous owner had, that convinced him to trade it in.

    Story I received was that a farmer here bought if for his wife. She didn't like it so he traded it for a 4Runner. Yeah leaning towards brand new at the price they are asking.

    Just because that's what they're asking doesn't mean that's what they're going to get. Make'm and offer they can't refuse lol. Or give'm what they want and they give you a significant extended warranty maybe.

    Well, you have a little more bargaining power on a used vehicle, so that number is just a starting point.
    With that few miles on it, you could tell them to reset the learning habbits on the ECU, check trans fluid, and you are on your way with a new truck.
    If they don´t budge on that number, you are better off getting brand new.
    Invoice should be around 33k, plus they already got their holdback and other incentives from Toyota from the original sale, so I would try to get as close to 30k as possible. If they laugh at you, laugh back and walk away.

    I think they do hold their value, but, check the thread : How much have you paid for your tacoma. You'll see you can get a new one for thathe much. I got a DCSB OR 4x4 premium and tech, no jbl, floor mats, exhaust tip, for 35000$ OTD. I didn't have to pay taxes, but 35k was the price agreed on the truck.
    Where are you located if you don't mind me asking? My honest opionion, buy a new one, thetc previous owner could've abused the truck the first 1700 miles... good luck man

    Honestly with the problems seen here, I wouldn't trust buying one that a owner traded in at low mileage, especially not to save only a couple grand or so.

    Buy new.

    I think it's a reasonable starting point since they've certified it (whatever that could really mean at 1700mi). But just like everyone is saying, it should come down in negotiation. Used ones seem to be close to retail in my cursory searches so far so at least they aren't posting an insultingly high number on the truck.

    But like everything used I would pull the carfax report or try putting the VIN on Toyota.com to see the service history. If clean I would feel better about the farmer's wife story even though it contradicts my own wife's love of my truck. :pray:

    OK, so I had to agree with you all concerning the pricing so on Sunday when I went back to the dealer here in Yuma and opted to tell them lets just forget about this pre-owned Tacoma and look at a brand new one. I really wanted the Off Road anyway. So I was able to to score the following:

    - White 2016 Tacoma Off Road DCSB
    * 4x4
    * Auto Trans
    * Tow Package
    * Premium and Tech Package
    * Carpet Floor Mats
    * Exhaust Tip
    * Predator Tub Steps
    * D-Rings

    Invoice price for this (based upon the sticky) was $35866 and I was able to get the truck for $35935 (IE just $69 over invoice; got them to price match a vehicle in Phoenix which did not have the Predator Tube Steps). I would like to think not too bad of a deal given that Yuma is a small town and there is only one Toyota dealer here and just 2 families own all of the dealers here anyway (so not much in the way of market forces to push prices down). Now on to customizing my new truck. Oh the madness never ends...

    Curious, in a little town like Yuma, what does one do for a living?

    Congrats on the purchase! It's a great truck, but just curious though. Don't all tacomas come with D-Rings?

    Is that out the door or before tax, tags, title, doc fees?

    If that's the purchase price out the door for 4x2 its a great deal.

    If that's the vehicle price before taxes title and license for a 4x4 that is a pretty solid deal.

    I wish it was out the door, but it was before taxes and a $500 dealer doc fee. Yes, it is a 4x4.

    I was actually going to ask about that. There are 2 mounted at the front of the bed near the tailgate. I just saw that there was an option to purchase more and upon preliminary look I was not sure where else they can be mounted.
