Question for 3rd Gen Taco and 5th Gen 4R owners

Non-Pros, Non Heritage grills...are the front sombrero emblems the same? Looking at all sorts of options to update my 4R front end and I found one for a 3rd Gen Taco I like but site says nothing about any other fits

 

can you ask the MFG? I have not seen or heard of these sombrero emblems, sorry

 

@Chew I sincerely apologize if I offended you. I've seen them referred to as that enough that I thought it was just a common way to describe. If that is a dickhead statement I'll edit it

 

I am not offended at all,,, just don't know what you emblem you are referring to
Maybe send a link to site, or again, ask them? If they can't, or won't, answer questions,,, then that's all you need to know about them.

 

Same, never heard of those emblems either.

I owned a 2014 4R and currently a 2023 Taco.

 

The Toyota logo at the top of the thread page resembles a sombrero if you squint and turn your head sideways.

 

“Sombrero” emblem—I like this name! The “0” on top really does look like a sombrero hat on top of other “0.”

To answer your question, I’m not sure if they fit. 2018 and newer Tacomas have radar sensor emblems, so I’m pretty certain they won’t fit 5th Gen 4Runner which has a standard emblem. There may be a chance the 2016-2017 Tacoma emblem fits the 5th Gen 4Runner since they’re both traditional emblems without sensors.

Sorry, I couldn’t offer more insight. If the cost is relatively inexpensive, it might be worth the purchase just to see if it fits.

 

IDK if you all are joking or serious, ha. By sombrero they are meaning the loopy T that Toyota uses for their logo.

No they are not the same. The Tacoma uses something that is like a shield, so its smooth all over where the 4Runner uses a raised emblem - like what is on your steering wheels.

 

The hombres building the Tacoma in Tijuana probably have a different name for the emblem.
