Question for anyone who has done the Meso chrome delete

So I'm thinking that Meso needs to adjust their 3D printing template a bit. I'm in the middle of the chrome delete for my vent rings. 2019 Tacoma access cab 7" factory radio manual environment (no climate control).

When I take off the old chrome rings, if you pay attention you can see that the rings are not perfectly the same "depth" as you go around the ring. As well, the area that the ring pushes into is slightly "higher" on the bottom section than the top. A picture is worth a thousand words:

You can hopefully see that as you go around the ring it gets wider and then thinner. However the Meso plastic rings are not made that way. They are evenly very thin, and you would think that they would just push into the slot and be happy. However they don't look good because they are pushed into the slot more on one side. The "low depth" area leaves the Meso ring partly sticking out higher than the surrounding cowl plastic while the opposite side of the ring gets pushed in way below the level of the plastic cowl.

I think Meso needs to make one side bigger/thicker/wider/?? than the other as you go around the ring so it fits flat because the one side pushes way farther into the slot than the other side and it is visible. On the back of the Meso rings it has what looks like orientation markers, with 1,3,4 and a separate 2. These correspond to the vent and I think it shows the orientation of the Meso ring for installation. So I tried the 2 orientation in vent #1 but it made no difference. All four Meso rings appear identical in the package.

I can't believe that anybody who has used these has not noticed this, but stranger things have happened...and yes, I watched several videos including the Meso official one but nobody mentioned this issue. I also did get the correct set for my truck:

Now I will still use them by laying a little bit of rolled up tissue paper along the "deeper" side to push the ring slightly higher there, but I'm not as happy as I could be since I'm now aware they are not right. Meso does make GREAT stuff. In this case, giving them the benefit of the doubt, I think either the 3rd gens or perhaps the 3rd gen Sport model, made a factory design change and Meso just didn't notice.

Call me OCD (please nothing worse) but I'm simply curious if anybody else has noticed this and if so what did you do about it?

EDIT: at 3:38 in their installation video (hit play then immediately pause) you can actually see that one side of the ring is higher than the other on his completed install in the upper left: https://youtu.be/WnbLJd4RmFk?t=218

both versions climate control, and non climate control have this issue. Meso even acknowledges this. the vents and rings are tapered, and difficult to duplicate. for us ocd people it hurts but, it isnt the end of the world. Ski

I have installed these, noticed the less than absolute perfect fit, and shrugged my shoulders. It does what it is supposed to, delete the chrome rings. I mean very few people even notice the chrome ones are gone, much less that the (I have mgm) meso ones aren't perfecto.

Ahh. Well then, that, as they say, is that. Thanks for the info.

Just a note, these are injection molded. If he was to make a ring special just for each vent, then the initial investment in the tooling would have cost a fortune.

Yeah, i have noticed the same, however passengers haven't noticed a difference. They delete the chrome which is what I actually wanted, so I just ignore it.
