I’m curious if any of you (small membership club probably) have mounted roof rack tracks or rain gutter mounted roof racks on your Leer 122? The roof is not level and is not a conventionally flat surface for mounting racks. Can it be done well?

Man, it’s crazy how quickly a quiet thread drops off the page!

I’ll try a little longer. (That’s what she said!)

i dont have your style of leer.

the cap track systems tend to be on level roof caps.
you could go with box mounted over the canopy system. ladder rack. strong but expensive.
i had old shortbox canopy with raised centre portion that didnt allow standard roof top rack to carry my canoe.
i custom built mounting brackets/crossbars that bolted to the top side corners of the canopy where fibreglass was strongest.
your back side window layout is quite high.

i note that lots of suv with curved roofs.
i watched youtube where a guy bought wrecking yard suv roof rack system that matched his needs. cheap option?
i think he paid $13 from the wrecking yard.
depends what length and weight items you need to carry
    my$.02.

There are several options for Thule roof rack systems that can be installed on a 122 on Leer's website. You should try contacting a local dealer for a quote.

    Thanks for the replies.

So far I think I’m going to try the rain gutter mount model for the racks. I’ll use different size rack legs/towers to compensate for the sloped topper roof (shorter on the back, taller towards cab where cap roof has more slope).
The rack legs will then mount to false gutter kits that mount to side wall of topper.

Probably nothing more than a couple kayaks or canoe.

Okay. I was wondering the need to keep it level. But if you had something on there that long you for sure don’t want it rubbing on your truck roof or sticking up in the back that much.

Yeah, I’m sure no matter how I mount the rack it won’t be perfectly level from crossbar to crossbar, but close. I’ll definitely make sure that once mounted and loaded with cargo, nothing will be rubbing anything.
