Been seeing a few videos on stretched timing chains with 4.0. Vehicles involved were fjs, 4 runners, and tacoma. It seemed a lot were 07 years. Was there some type of chain problem in that particular year. The mileage was for most was only 140 to 160 thousand. Getting anxious since its a very expensive repair and I'm around 168,000

If you have no noise and no timing codes and are good on your maintenance I wouldn't worry about it.
Usually you will get a timing code and/or a chain rattle on a cold start when they are on their way out.

I don't suppose you know which codes in particular, or have an example video of the chain rattle?

Usually p0016 or p0017 are most common with a stretched chain.
Not a 4.0 but this is the noise I'm refering to, it will usually be worse on a cold start and lasts until the oil pressure comes up.
A sticking or failed VVT actuator can cause the noise and codes too.

I think I worded my question wrong. What I meant to ask was there anything wrong with a batch of 07 chain. I am not having any problems at the present time. Tia

    doubt it's expensive
most Toyota parts are not expensive
except aftermarket upgrades, they are really expensive, and Jeep costs like nothing for the same exact upgrades

Amazon shows a kit for $90
    [IMG]

most people have this impression that the Toyota logo means "indestructible" in the sense they can neglect to ever change a part and piss and shit in the oil cap once per 3 years, causing accelerated wear on components

when in fact it works the same exact way as any other car like a BMW M5
    (still uses wheel bearings)

and similar parts wear at similar mileages
    (wheel bearings)

it actually has more parts to maintain
like a bunch of U-joint driveshaft zerk fittings to grease (5) whereas a normal car has none of them
can make it last longer if you take care of it (greasability)
Most people and the average person will not

a plastic tensioner is a plastic tensioner
and they don't spend extra to make the chain titanium
in fact there is a lot of the opposite (cost cutting) but still charging a high price
like the absolute lack of interior features

that would be listed in a TSB or something
which Toyota works hard to hide from the public

In general, symptoms of a chain issue usually include:
    -DTC's
    -tensioner out of spec
    -rattle
accelerated by neglectful oil change practices
