Locked in a good price on a 2017 TRD Off-Road 4X4 double cab auto transmission. They currently have a blue one in stock.

I prefer grey, they said they have one coming and they can hold it for me using a $500 deposit. The grey one is coming in in 2 weeks. I originally wanted a silver one but I don't think I can find this same deal on that one.

I really don't trust that the dealer will follow through. They're a legitimate dealership but I really don't trust that they'll follow through with it if I give them 2 weeks to think about the price.

Dealer is two hours away, is there anything I can possibly do so they don't back out? I want to get it locked it, but also concerned about them giving me a truck that isn't identical to the blue one in specs(they show up with an access cab, manual, 2wd etc)

What should I do? Should I settle for the blue?

    Thanks

Don't settle for something you are buying brand new, get what you want. If you are worried that they will flake you should see if they can print you the offer in writing and make sure that written offer is good until that time window. Grey looks better imo

If you prefer grey, get grey. Color is probably one of the most expensive things to change if you don't like it.

Also if it is coming in 2 weeks they should be able to print you a paper with the temporary vin and exact options it will have. If it "shows up different" they sold it to someone else without telling you and are showing you a different truck.

I don't think I would ever pay to have a new color repainted on a newer truck.

If it shows up different I won't buy it. Problem is that if they sell it, then I'm out of luck, and good luck finding another truck for that same price. That is my main dilemma.

It depends on where you're from. The way you worded your title I just couldn't resist!! South, gray. North, blue. West of the Mississippi, blue. But seriously, between the two, I like the gray aka, MGM. Yes I have a white truck in my avatar but that's my personal preference. Looks cleaner even when its dirty and doesn't show pin stripes easily. Welcome to the world of the 3rd geners.

Get what you want, I prefer gray myself and it'll stay "looking" clean for a hell of a long time.

And all make and models are piling up at the dealerships, maybe things are slowing down so patience and waiting maybe your new found friends?

One grey bird in hand is better than blue bird in bush.

Unless of course you are wanting a blue bird bad!

Have them show you a paper trail on how they know there is a blue one on way.

everyone has different tastes. I initially liked the MGM, but now I am leaning towards the Silver Sky. Only thing is that everyone and their father has either a gray or silver tacoma truck and if I did get one of those, it would just be another tacoma truck like everyone elses. If I had an awesome deal on a Blazing Blue, I personally may just jump on it because I do like the color, just would need to get used to it. But you and only you can make that decision and you will need to live and be happy with it. Of course, there are a ton of MGM and SS in stock at our dealers so I would have a better chance to get one of those instead of the Blue. Good luck!

BTW, don't forget resale value, some colors are more popular than others

I have an MGM, but color wasn't that big a deal for me. I told the dealer no Quicksand and no Inferno, aside from that I could have lived with whatever color was on the truck that I wanted.

With that said, all things being equal Blazing Blue Pearl would be my first choice, but definitely could have done worse than MGM.

Blue's probably the hardest to keep clean. I personally hate washing trucks, so I wouldn't get the blue or black.

I bought a Silver Sky precisely because I don't want to wash it all the time. Silver is a common colour, but very practical for a truck. The Blue Tacomas look really great, but seem like they'll need a lot of washing to keep looking good. The MGM are very common where I live (so also kinda boring, but not as easy to keep clean as SS). I would chose the colour you like best, and hold the dealer to their price. Don't fall for the "today only a special deal exclusively for you" ruse. They are trained to tell you these things to up the sales pressure. It's just BS for the most part. I was told I would have to wait up to three weeks for a SS Tacoma OR, but could have a MGM one in a couple days. I told them I was willing to wait, and the SS showed up by the end of the week. For some reason they were trying to push the MGM on me. No idea why.

I've had so many silver or black cars and trucks, I wanted something new. But I was very close to getting gray this time.

Take it from a guy who settled for a color he didn't want... Wait for the grey.
