Question for the remodelers in the north

Would you take a:

2009 DC v6 Pre-Runner std. bed
Or
2012/13 AC 4 cylinder 4 wd?

Consider what I need it for. Kid transport rare to occasional, 4 wd maybe 8 times a year, bed used alot (demo, drywall, studs, etc)
Thoughts on tool Storage vs. Material hauling?

The 4wd... or you'll be calling the tow truck, 8 times a year.

 

How far north are we talking? I would want the V6 for hauling materials if you could get away with 2wd.

Here's the thing, the Tacoma bed really isn't good for hauling sheets of drywall or plywood unless you get a ladder rack. The sheet goods don't lay between the wheel wells on any of the models. In western NY, you'd probably want to have 4wd. Maybe get a trailer that would haul sheet goods and demo debris and get the 4 banger 4wd.

 

But preferred?

I know, I saw it the first time you wrote it... It works but still not ideal for sheet goods, even with the long bed. It works for homeowners and weekend warriors, not really for someone who will be framing every day.

 

If I'm getting more material than I can haul like that , I'll pay the $40 for delivery

 

Very true, that's a good point also.

 

Past 5-10 sheets, I'd rent a truck from lowes regarding drywall. How about lumber? Does 1ft really matter regarding studs? 5' for bed, 1' gate, how we looking for 12' lumber?

 

I know this trick.

But - my choice - if it's for a business...There is no way I would buy a Taco. I want to lay sheet goods flat, have plenty of towing capacity, and not be using work arounds like some 2x6s.

 

Sure , I get all those points , but I actually am a general contractor for a living , and like I said previously , anytime I need more material than will fit in my Tacoma , I'm getting a delivery
