A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
With all of the ads on TV comparing the Chevy steel beds and the Ford aluminum beds, I was wondering if I should be aware of any issues (good or bad) with the Tacomas bed. I know that many do not (or rarely) use their trucks to haul stuff (rocks firewood etc). I have not seen much about the features of this bed material in the Tacoma.
Sorry if this has hashed over before.

I use the shit out of mine. Wouldn't take a Chevy Ford or the equivalent ever.

(I should mention we all most likely have the rubber mat in the bed.)

I use my trucks as trucks. When I had my Taco I bought and hauled a wood furnace for my shop- had to load it with a forklift and unload it with my tractor at home.

The bed got gouged out pretty badly.

I've owned a lot of trucks- most had dented, beat up beds either when I got them or after I used them. Never had one where material would gouge the f*ck out of it.

    I've had four Tacoma's with composite beds ('05, '09, '13, and '16).

Don't worry about the strength of the composite. It can take serious abuse.

I have the bed mat in mine. I haul lumber, trash (household), furniture, etc. Never worried about it.

Amazon, 2nd gen mat is the same as the 3rd gen. Just be sure to differentiate between long and short bed.

One common problem with these beds is they have been coming misaligned. These beds do gouge pretty badly. I hauled 1.08 tons of fill dirt in my truck...yes way over payload. This did seem to fix the squealing leaf springs

    nothing cool
Flooring for my house 35 boxes X 45lbs each, plus pallet of wood, two adults and two kids in back seat. Bed payload was close to 1,500lbs? Honestly it was dumb as F but I on had a 5 mile drive home on side streets.

I've hauled a bunch of parts and furniture around in mine. Bed is slidey, but all truck beds are slidey, that's what straps are for. No substitute for properly securing your cargo.

Did any of that sand find its way into the bed outlet? That was one concern I had- hauling sand or topsoil with that outlet in the back.

Actually I put a child proof outlet insert in my bed outlet as a preventative step. Never did get that sand though...

500lbs of geese. Actually squatted that Chevy, lol
