Yes and no -- I will use my bed extensively -- but I also know how to NOT abuse beds (sort of like the Chevy TV ad where they push the tool boxes off of the bed rail to show how "soft the Ford aluminum is" This is not a real world scenario (in my world that is). Some things one learns after 60+ years of life. Take care of your "stuff" and it will take care of YOU
    Thanks for the info!

Oh, well if you're not going to go out of your way to be a fucktard you'll be in great shape with any bed! Haha

What you say is true, take care of your gear and it takes care of you. Go have fun using your truck bed like a truck bed!

True what you say -- but my main concerns are with this type of material used in the Tacoma. Never had one like this before now -- 2 f150s and a Dakota
Gotta bring home the firewood while I am still able to do it--plus the exercise is good for a body (especially one my age)
    Thanks

My Taco has been filled up with firewood, snadbags, rocks, hay bails, refrigerators, and countless other things. Right now I have a couple boat anchors banging around back there. The composite is kind of slick and your stuff may slide around if it isn't tied down, but it's easier to load cause you can just slide your crap to the back. My only complaint is that sharp, heavy, metal items can gouge out some of the composite, but the composite is so thick that it doesn't really bother me that much. Mine is pretty scratched up, but has no dents or cracks. If you're worried about slickness or scratches, just get a spray in bed liner.

I pulled the old TSC stall mat out of my ranger and flopped it in the taco. Best mat you will ever have.

Actually, I am glad to hear that about "easier to load", as I am usually by myself loading and unloading wood. This will help me, I am used to the stuff sliding around as my 02 F150 had a drop in liner --they are super slick -- I may be checking out TSC soon for the possibility of using one of their stall mats. Now all I need is a Tacoma to put it in!!

At our shop we have had tacoma beds cracked and warped due to lumber racks not being mounted thru the bed and to the frame. All of our steel bed trucks just get the usual bed rail top mounts and see hundreds of pounds of construction material on them constantly with no issues.

That's good to know --gives me an idea how much of a load I can get in there -- of course I would need the bed extender. You carry it like I like to do --unsplit --I do that when I get home with it.
you have a better saw than mine -- I have an older 310 with a 20" bar and a 1/4 pitch chain It has/does serve me well

So here's the deal... Itll handle any abuse you throw at it. That being said... It will put you on your ass if it's wet and you're unprepared. It's durable but with wet or freezing weather it's a whole different kind of slick..

I called the same Line-x shop where I had my previous 2003 Tacoma sprayed and they told me Line-x won't bond to the to plastic/composite beds. Let me know if you find out otherwise. I can't believe how easy it is to scrape up the composite bed. I bought a Toyota bed mat shortly after that first dump run.

In case of an accident I hope the Body shop would use a genuine bed replacement. Not sure if there are any cheap copies on the market.

That's regular use for a work/job-site truck, concrete blocks/heavy tools get thrown over the side of trucks all day, ending up with a dented bed and a puncture or two eventually.

Good to know they are fairly tough -- of course mine won't be a "work/job-site truck (more like my retirement truck). If they can take that kind of use -- they will hold up to my use!
    Thanks

I recently hauled 3 sheets of 4x6 3/16" steel plates and some 2x2 square tubing and 2" round tubing and it gouged the bed up pretty good, don't have the bed mat or anything and I also don't really care what the interior of my bed looks like (its a truck), but figured I would just add to the conversation, don't think I saw any posts about hauling raw steel.
