For those of you with an access cab who have the satellite radio antenna right above the rear brake light….do you notice anything wrong with your paint behind the radio antenna? I noticed that the paint is all worn away here….and there seems to be some wearing down on the brake light. I have never loaded anything in my bed yet so I’m not sure what caused this.

I think it may be the antenna that changes the air flow around that area and caused abnormal wear….

Almost looks like what a fine grit sand paper would do......thoughts?

    PICS to come later tonight!

the antenna itself is not moving...I just think that there may be wind resistance around and over the back of the antenna....i'll have to get some pics up....basically what i'm asking is if anyone has any paint wear behind the antenna?

Yes I understood that but my reply didn't read like I did. But yea, I have no paint wear from wind resistance behind my regular little xm antenna.

I'd highly doubt wind resistance would cause it anyway... I mean if that's the case the front of the truck should be 'sandblasted' away from highway driving. Perhaps the antenna is a bit loose and vibrating against the paint, or you have some defective paint there... sounds like a dealer problem to me.

the only other thing i can think of is going through a touchless car wash....could that be it?

Powerwashers could rip paint straight off a car, especially if it was never cured properly or really weak. Still, I highly doubt a touchless caused it... but it's possible.
