I have a roll on bedliner (that way when I bought it) it's actually done quite well. However, it is starting to chip in some places which I know is common.

I am wanting to get rhino liner or line x on it. I was wondering if it's possible to coat the pre existing liner or am I going to have to remove the roll on liner by scraping, sanding and whatever other means necessary to remove it first?

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You will have to remove the old stuff first, the whole trick to a good install and any bed liner brand sticking is the surface prep. Even the best material will peel off if it is not on a properly prepped surface. Most of the bed liner dealers insist on doing their own surface prep because of that.

That's kinda what I was thinking, so the body shop would do the removal as well? Would it be more beneficial if I did it myself?

I don't have many resources at my disposal to get the roll on liner off myself very effectively.

It would be the LineX dealer that did the prep work not a body shop. The bed liner installers are independent dealers, you will definitely want to check with one of them directly for a quote. Hate to say it but it's not gonna be cheap...

Yeah I kinda figured it wouldn't be cheap. I'll give them a call and get a quote.

Someone should start an awareness campaign warning people of the dangers involving roll on bed liners. Haha
