I'm really eyeballing the 16 Tacoma. I have run into an issue. I'm 6'2 and I pretty much hit my head on the roof of the truck, if the moonroof is installed.

Anyone else hit this? Any work around? I've even heard people shorter than me say the roof is too low.

I love the idea of this thing, but I won't buy with hitting my head on the moonroof, and I won't buy without the tech package.

You can modify the seat, saw someone on here do that and lower it 2-3 inches. You would need to search around though I don't have the link

My head hit as well. I'm 6' 2", so I went without the tech package. No regrets.

Yeah, I thought of that. But then no heated seats, auto climate, etc. I've had this stuff on my cars for years. Not giving that up due to their poor design.

Not ready to give up. I want that thing. I need a solution.

At 5-9 & a buck fifty I don't enjoy this particular issue...finally some good news for the little guy.

However, I would have never imagined 2-3 inches of extra space to move the seat down especially because I feel as if I'm sitting on the floor in all generations of Tacos.

I am 6' 240 lbs of Beef, and I dont hit the ceiling, seems like there is plenty room between my big ass bald head and the roof...I am too damn broad for these seats though...

I'm 6'1" and feel I have plenty of room. A good 2 inches or more and I have a moonroof. I also have an Infiniti G37 where I can literally put my head out of the moonroof if it's open so maybe a few inches of headroom feels like a ton for me.

For what it's worth, I'm 6'-7" and I don't have any issues with headroom. I made the switch from a super crew f-150 and don't regret it a bit. My seats aren't lowered, but no moonroof either.

I'm 6'2 and fit ok with no sunroof. Came from a full-sized and still hit the roof sometimes getting in, the full-sized just have so much more headroom, I have to duck to get in the Tacoma. Not a big deal, will notice it more when I'm wearing a river runner or cowboy straw hat in the Summer for fishing and boating

No moonroof= plenty of headroom. They complaints on the headroom are on the trucks with moon roofs. I am 6'3" and have no moon roof and have the most headroom I have ever had in a vehicle. But I can see how the moon roof would lower headroom.

6'4 here without moon roof and I'd say I have at least 6''+ of head space.

I'm 5'11"ish with a weirdo all-torso body. With my moonroof, I only have like 1" of clearance above my head. It drives me nuts. If I sit up straight, I can literally press my head against the ceiling (the lower part, next to the moonroof). All the posts to the tune of "I'm 6'4" and it's fine" are irrelevant. I have friend who 6'3" and when we sit a table, I'm looking down at him. He's fit in my Tacoma just fine while I don't It's all about how long your torso is, and how big your ass is. I'm long with a big ass.

I have a plan to modify my seat to get another 1-1.5" inches of headroom. I've been looking/contemplating how to do it for a while now. If you have the heated seats (or maybe all seats), there's not much room to get over 1.5" by modifying the end brackets and lowering the rails. There's a metal thingamabob underneath on the driver side center that sits lower than the rails. There's about 1" of room from that to the carpet. So that's the limiting factor. Removing the carpet under that will help a little bit. But if you want to your seat to still slide back-n-forth, you have to allow for that thingamabob to slide forward/rear. Another option could be to cut out a section of the floor, and give it a little dip for clearance.

The seat mounting brackets in front and back are humped, and the rails sit on those. I think I'm going to:
    • remove that pin that holds the rails on the brackets
    • cut through those humps and mount the rails inside of them
    • Weld the rails to the brackets from the SIDE of the rails.
We'll see what happens. I've been holding off on doing it to let someone else make the mistakes first and gather some ideas. But I have seen anything yet, and I'm probably going to go for it soon. Hurts to cut up a brand new truck, but I've done it before. :)

6'-2" with a long torso and couldn't fit with the moon roof. With our crazy Canadian option upgrade packages it meant giving up the blind spot and JBL because they only come with the moon roof. JBL I was OK without but wanted the blind spot monitoring. Oh well... still happy.

6'5" here and I do fit, with moonroof. Would have preferred and tried to order without, but couldn't obtain. On the other hand, the tech package has some really nice stuff.
I'd say maybe 1" of clearance, maybe a little more. When my alfalfa hair stands up, I can feel it on the roof sometimes.

Definitely more space, both leg and head, in my Gen 2, (no moonroof).

Thanks for the responses. I'd love to hear more if anyone has them.

I sat in the truck again, and I might be able to swing it. My hair makes contact with the roof at times, but that could be tolerable to achieve the badassery of this thing.
