Just joined and wow what a great forum lots of information. I am very interested in trading in my 2011 F250 6.7 diesel for a new Tacoma double cab 4 x 4 off road. I am currently getting around 16 or 17 around town but Diesel do cost more to run than a gas job and I am not towing anything anymore.

What are the pros and cons to these trucks? I see so many of them on the road and I like the looks of them. Ill be test driving one tomorrow.

Thanks for any help or tips.

    Clazzio seat covers,
A lot of variations ... access cab ... double cab ... 2wd ... 4wd ... automatic ... manual ... 2.7L 4 ... 4.0L V6 ... many trim levels ... my advice is to determine what you will use it for and go from there ... best of luck.

lots of customization, great community, reliability, re sell value... MPG is the hottest question and youll get the same answer...... I wouldnt buy a truck for the MPGs if thats your main concern, if you do then get an eco boost f-150 or something like that :notsure:

I've gotten 18.1 over the last 9k miles. I have a 6 speed and 4 wheel drive. I used to have an 05' that I got 16 with. Some claim more, some less, but I wouldn't expect to get much better than 19. Even with a light foot and the automatic.

a huge Con is that it doesn't get very good mileage.

My dad's stock F-150 was getting 3mpg better than my Stock Tacoma. He and I have similar driving habits.

Now that I've made my Tacoma Bad As Fuck it gets 14-16mpg on a good day, and less than that if I'm showing my ass in the dirt.

The sentence immediately preceding this one is chock full of Pros and one Con. I still love my Tacoma... even if it does have a fuckin' pig of a motor under the hood.

That's what I drive (Pyrite Mica). I have 265/70/17 tires installed. Varies on driving style. I've got around 22 mpg on the highway with cruise, and I've had 16 mpg pushing it around town. Safe to say anywhere from 15 mpg - 22 mpg depending on terrain, mods and driving style.

If you need the power of a 6.7 diesel or any diesel don't even consider a Tacoma as you will be seriously disappointed. In fact don't even consider a Tundra which is a lot more powerful. If you are looking for MPG the best you are going to get with a Tacoma around town is around 20 average depending on your driving habits and what engine you choose and it could be around 15 or even lower.

Secondly going from an F-250 to a Tacoma is a big change in the available duty of the truck. If you are looking for a nice looking 4x4 with reasonable mpg if driven properly and decent off road capability then perhaps the Tacoma will work for you, but do not expect it to perform like an F-250 Diesel in any area. Not even close. ;)

Gas mileage has never been great for these trucks. After I installed my 3" lift and 33" tires it really got bad haha. :p

I'll be interested to hear how you liked it in testing.

When I sit in a full-size domestic USA pickup, I am amazed at the opulence and spaciousness of the seats. It's like riding in a Barca-lounger compared to my minimalist Taco seats.

But my Tacoma has a way better turning radius than my F150. Sitting in a Tacoma is like driving a luxury car. Sitting in the F150 is like sitting in a cardboard box!
