    Afternoon fellas and ladies

I have a question for you all. Just replaced the belt tensioner, reattached the ac compressor, replaced the alternator, hooked most of the wires back up.

Then there is this with the hemostats. Looks like a ground wire to me.

I cant get it to fit in that hole so where does it go? I can ground anywhere right?

Can I ground it to that alternator bracket?

I could be wrong but it looks like it might go in the spot I circled, it looks like a main ground but I can't tell from the picture if it's a body, frame, or block ground you would have to trace it and see where it goes.
I'll have to look at my truck later and see if I can tell.

that hole is for a mounting bracket and thats what i thought the wire went but i cant get the wire to fit in there. the way the wire falls it looks like it wants to ground to the alternator housing. i should have taken a picture before i went unbolting things.

I'll look at mine when I get a chance and see if I can determine where it goes.

It sure looks that way to me too. I'd snap a pic for you but both trucks are off at college with the kids.

The only ground I see in that area goes on the frame right below where the upper control arm mounts.

“Coil bucket” is the pocket that the front coil over is mounted into on the frame.

Where is the other end of that ground? If it's the alternator, is it possible you bolted the alternator end of it down in a way that it's oriented incorrectly? In other words, can you loosen the alternator end, rotate it more favorably, and then get more slack so you can attach it to the spot that is circled?

That does indeed go to the hole it's next to - the tab on the terminal goes to the small hole next to the bolt hole. Here it is where it's supposed to sit:

The other end of that wire is bonded to the starter ground lug - in other words, the other end of that wire is connected to the starter end of the battery->starter ground wire.
